The Hodgdon website seems to favor Triple Seven FFFG for black powder rifles and shotguns. Do you use and recommend Triple Seven FFFG for the Walker Colt when shooting ball projectile? I have always used Pyrodex P. Your thoughts? Thanks.

It's cleaner and you can use less, just add more filler. I use it in mine, be careful of compression as 777 likes light compression, heavily compressed it seems to delay fire and burn erratic. I would NOT fill my chamber with it as it's 15% stronger/hotter than real black or Pyro and the Walkers will shoot loose with many heavy rounds of hot loads. There's a reason they all say black powder only.

My brother picked me up a bottle of 2F 777 (by mistake) and gave it to me, now my 60 Colt and the 58 didn't really care for it, it would shoot but lacked the omph for lack of a better description. but the Walker LOVED it. I use about 40gr (only shot it one time so far as it was a kit gun ) and had NO problems with it going off. I did try some 3f BP in it also (about 35-40 gr) but I at least found a way to use up the 777..

I have been shooting 40 grains of 777 FFF in my 3rd Model Dragoon. It is a powerful load with a 220 grain conical bullet but it shoots at least a foot high at 25 yards. I still need to make and install a taller front sight.
