Walmart Ammo Purchase Update

Ever read some poetry?

Just because some Wal-Marts are phasing out firearm sales we should just roll over and take another privacy intrusion? If you take it here, you'll be forced to take it somewhere else next time. And the time after that. Meanwhile, you'll be busy convincing yourself "it's not that bad".

Go not gentle into that good night. Rage! Rage against the dying of the Light!

I think that was Dylan Thomas.

In Maryland here, and I've not found a single wallmart in my area that even sells ammunition, let alone firearms!

I hesitate to add to YAW-MT (Yet Another Wal-Mart Thread,)

-- but, here goes.

The Walmart within walking distance sells ammo, but no firearms. The Walmart Superstore, out in the Yuppy Golf Trash area, sells ammo and long arms. The rifles seem to be black, but not "evil". That is, a lot of them have black plastic stocks, but you have to work a bolt every time you wanna shoot them again.

Tyril,

The Walmart right off of I-97 in Glen Burnie sells ammo and firearms:

Wal-Mart Store #1875

7992 Crain Hwy.
Glen Burnie, MD 21061
(410) 969-1050

Google map of the store

Unfortunately, as at other Walmarts, their ammo prices have gone up in the last month.

Walmart in NY state

In New York State, I tried to purchase .45 ACP for my Beretta CX4 Carbine. I was asked for a pistol permit. I explained that the ammo was for a rifle and that I was not required to have a permit to purchase ANY kind of ammunition.
After the clerk was unable to help, I spoke to the department manager, who 'explained' that Walmart was trying to keep ammunition out of the hands of criminals. OK, I said, that was very nice, but since I was NOT a criminal, they should sell me the ammunition. But they wouldn't, since .45 ACP is a pistol round. I told them that while it may be a pistol round, it is not exclusively a pistol round and their arbitrary policy shouldn't be applied to it. After all, I could buy all the .22 ammunition I wanted without displaying a pistol permit & there's thousands of .22 pistols out there.
So- I've written & called Walmart several times & a local manager finally left a message on my machine last night. I will be calling him monday morning to see if he can address this failed policy.
In the meantime, I bought some .45 at Gander Mountain & they didn't even ask me any questions...
