Heads up because I like you guys, I just picked up some Federal 223 Rem. 55 Grain FMJ BP223BL. They had four value packs of 100 rounds priced at $34.97 each. I cleaned them out. :D

So check your Walmarts regularly.

My walmart just got in a load of PPU 9mm 50 round packs, don't expect them to last long though, lol. No 7.62 or 5.56 to be had though.

looks like we've lowered the bar for 'king' appreciably

I have to go hunting for magnum large rifle primers (don't have enough for ladder testing.)

Hoping I'll find some! ... somewhere.

Walmart isn't king if they don't sell primers, BTW.

They're more like a ... court jester maybe?

Columbia, SC, Garners Ferry Road location is still pretty much cleaned out. I was in a little while ago and they were stocking a cart full of bird and skeet shells but all the other stuff has been cleaned out a long time ago. There was a few boxes of some off-brand 9mm Luger, don't remember the brand but had never seen it before. The guys stocking said nothing on the horizon.

Besides some Wincherster 555 packs of 22LR, I'm 0-5 in 3 different Wal-Marts. Okay, so call it 1-6.

Has the Walmart Purchasing Dept. in Springdale AR ordered much larger quantities of such rounds than was normal in pre-panic times?
If so, how soon could any of their distributors manufacture such quantities?

Maybe they will soon decide to sell Silver Bear 9x18 Makarov, even though this has not seen extra demand.

I think its been seven or eight weeks since I was in Wal-mart. Doesn't matter...haven't been shooting in about the same time. :(

Maybe that will improve soon.

Mark

nice, last I was there they still have various handgun ammo like .380, 9mm, .45acp, .40sw, but no .223 and 7.62x39. I wish I still had the funds to stock up on mags and ammo...

I'd swear that some employee in my two local Wal-Marts is in cahoots with someone who buys up all the .223/5.56 before it even hits the shelves. I gotta schmooze the gal that works the sporting goods counter a little better, I guess ... (yeah, I confess, I hit up Wally World a couple times a week -- it's on the way to work -- and I've been in the habit of regular ammo and bait runs while also picking up cheap DVDs/Blu-Rays and Sam Adams when I'm there).

We got plenty o' .17 HMR and .410 available, but that's been about it since the silliness started. Oh, and yeah -- NOW there's plenty of .380 around, after I traded off the PPK and 232 ...

Sportsmans' Warehouse in Loveland, CO

I was at the Sportsmans' Warehouse in Loveland, CO earlier this evening and they had ammo overall IF you weren't looking for .223/5.56, 9mm or 22LR (I can't speak to AK ammo as I wasn't looking for it).

I did notice they were also out of 30-30 but had a fair amount of 30-.06. In fact, most hunting calibers were in stock. They also had a number of handgun calibers sans the 9mm. Plenty of the high-end defense ammo that goes for a $1/round or so. But also had target ammo in calibers like .44, .357 and .38.

I picked up a 250 round value pack of .40. There were two there and I have a bit of non-buyers remorse for not grabbing the other box.

Yeah I figured if I didn't buy all four then I would regret it. By the way I forgot to mention that the guy said they had JUST put that ammo on the shelf. I think somebody likes me up there.

If there is enough demand in the area, Walmart carries reloading supplies.

Gun coverage is also area-specific. Some sell muzzleloading supplies only during deer season around here, but have rimfire, centerfire rifle and shotgun ammo and guns year round. Last time my son checked, the one in Bristol TN had reloading supplies.

Don't know why folks like one retailer over the other. Pretty sure the ammo I bought late night at Walmart the other night was the same thing I would buy anywhere else.

They had a reasonable selection too. Not too surprising they were out of .223 and 5.56x39, and the supply of 9mm was slim.

this morning I searched for a store where it was "in stock" went in to one to see if I could find it. One of the guys who works there says "sorry, Walmart doesn't carry 223 ammo anymore" - really? Hm.. interesting. I go home, look online and it still says it's "in stock".

I call the store ask for the manager, tells him what happened. He takes my number says he will call me back. 10 minutes later I get a call "sorry sir, we have 8 boxes in stock, how many would you like?" - "uh, all of them?" - he says he'd set aside MY 8 boxes. That will do just fine to round out my stash, even though the price is a little higher than I'd like.

Moral of the story, don't take any crap - I'm thinking that guy just wanted them for himself or just had no idea what was going on. If you need ammo, make a stink, they could be giving your bad info.

Let's see if Obama can buy Walmart into supporting the gunshow "loophole" before we determine what type of crown we nail to their heads.

Went to wally world today they were cleaned out of everything except for shotgun and some .40 cal jhp.

So I had some time to kill before an appointment this a.m.; stopped in the Wal-Mart down the road from the doctor's office ... Guy was at the sporting goods counter buying up ALL the WWB 100-round "valu-packs" of .40 S&W (looked like he had a dozen or so). Asked the clerk about .223/5.56 -- she said some guy came in as soon as the store opened and bought ALL of what'd been put out -- to the tune of 700 dollars' worth. Geez, guy -- how 'bout leaving ONE box for someone else? Damn hoarders.

I did pick up a few boxes of Federal 9mm FMJ 100-round packs (was suprised there was so much of it out still), but left a couple for the next guy. I'm considerate that way.

Just called 3 Wallmarts and was informed that their warehouse is currently out of stock on .233/.556 ammo. Who knows how long it will be until they get more in with the buying madness that's going on.

I had a buddy who went to Columbus yesterday and found some Hornady .223 in 50 rd. boxes. We split the cost of a half case (500rds.) and it cost us $150.00 each with tax.

Just a couple months back I was able to get PMC .223 and Federal .556 for $6.75 a 20 rd. box. I guess I should have loaded up when I had a chance.

Today while perusing the ammo at my local walmart I overheard one clerk state to the other that there was ammo out back that needed to be brought out and stocked in the case. I asked if they had any .223. One clerk said they are not stocking 223 "because you can use that in automatic weapons and that is what was used to kill those little kids" :banghead:

I'll go to Wally World, Dick's or my LGS. I don't care who has as long as I can get it.
Dick's had a good selection on handgun ammo. I picked up 100rnds of .40 and fifty rounds of S&B .380.
I would have bought more but I didn't have enough cash on me.
The .380 ammo was 9.97 for a box of fifty. I use it in my TCP but its a little snappy for me.
No 9mm in stock though. I sure am glad I bought the .40 caliber! I can always find .40 cal no matter where I go.
