I picked one up the other day. Big, heavy and feels like a real 1911. Which, I guess it is. Made in Germany by Walther under license by Colt.

The finish is rubbed off in several places so I may get it cerakoted, just for fun. Also, the barrel is threaded so I guess I need to get a suppressor for it.

I have a checkered mainspring housing and new front sight coming, along with a Wilson front strap checkering insert thing. I also found an ambidextrous safety that I think I need.

I took it apart and polished the moving parts, cleaned and oiled it.

I was adding it to my list of firearms I keep for insurance when I ran into a problem. What year was it made? Walther doesn't list it, neither does Colt.

I found this casting stamp on the right side under the grip. I am guessing it was cast in September of 2012.

Any ideas on when these were made? From what I can find, they were introduced in 2010 or 2011 and may be still for sale.

I wasn't looking for a new gun when I found this one. I like unusual firearms and the price wasn't terrible so I figured "why not?"

i bought a brand new one about 3 weeks ago so i assume they still make them. mine's the govt model, not rail gun.

I bought one a few years ago. It makes a good training \ practice gun; cheap to run, reliable and accurate.

I agree that the finish is not up to Colt standards, but acceptable considering the low cost of the gun.

I just bought one and will be picking it up Tuesday. Good timing because I go the range every Wednesday. From what I've read it's 80% the same as a Colt.

I'll do a swap out of the safety, main spring and sights before I do anything else to it. I will shoot 500 rounds of CCI MiniMags to ensure the gun is working properly, then the fun begins.
