Walther P22 Questions

True FPrice, I am speaking of "New" pistols.
Yes, we can buy those older ones that were in-state prior to 10/98, but unfortunately the ones I have found at dealers tend to be well-used plus high-priced, or very nice condition matched with a very high price. For example, well-used Ruger MKII 512, $400, Browning Hi-Power $799 to $899 (if you can find any). The dwindling supply vs. demand here just drives up prices of used pistols (the ones we cannot buy new). Enough ranting..... :cuss:

i have p22. nice gun. it has some problems...but nothing major. some type of pin apparently likes to ease itself out...which causes some guns to go safe unintentionally.

my thumbs ride the slide when i grope...i mean grip the weapon, and that has caused some FTE problems for me...but that's all grip stuff.

you can take the weight off, and keep the longer barrel...for...ahem...other purposes (of the homemade variety).

the scope mount is nifty too. i got the one with all the rails on the top, sides, and bottom, and believe me, when you load up the rails, you've got an anchor in your hand...but its for looks and the "awe" factor. in reality...its cool to shoot too.

subsonic loads go through mine with no problem. in fact subsonic .22's are interesting to shoot without hearing protection on...simply cause you DON'T need it.

nice little gun. great for REALLY cost effective training. it's 2/3 the size of the P99...and just as easy to shoot.

Re: Pin coming out

Ok so I went with the P22 and I love it, but I too am having issues with the pin right next to the safety lever easing its way out to the point of blocking the action of the safety. I contacted Walther about this, and they asked that I ship the gun in for inspection, so we'll see what they come up with. It may just take something as easy as expanding the pin a little. *shrug*

I love my P22, I've only managed to put 600-700 rounds in the 8 months since I bought it (my first handgun). It's loads of fun to shoot and has eaten everything I've put into it. The only thing I would change would be bigger and less pricey magazines.

My only problems were I couldn't get the internal safety lock undone without an incredible amount of force, the solution is just don't use it. I did have some trouble with the compensator wandering around, especially after a couple of hundred rounds. Some lock-tite fixed that.

I had this problem twice [2] with my P 22. This is a common problem with the P 22. Also watch out for the roll pin which is vertical in the slide that holds the extractor in place. It can walk downward and start to drag and gouge on the rails of the frame.
