Walther PPQ 9mm

Get one, you won't regret it!

I've had mine for 15-16 months now. It's an M1 in 9mm with the paddle magazine release. Over 2000 rounds through it and no failures to feed, fire or eject to report with any of the ammo I've filled the magazines with. This with multiple types of hollow points and assorted FMJ of 115 and 124 flavors.

Now that I've embraced my inner 1911-geek, the Walther is really the only polymer pistol I intend to have for a while. The trigger is excellent, it has above-average accuracy for a service pistol and as far as I'm concerned, its reliability is beyond question. The only difficulty is picking which specific variant you want.

I'll get a good picture of it in a couple of weeks on the rock wall I use for my other pistols.

I just got the Cloak Mod holster in yesterday. Fits very good. Gonna get the TFX Pro sights next.

Smith was the importer of Walther firearms before Walther USA was built in Arkansas

Yes I remember that Smith was bringing them, but I thought they "broke up" right as Walther was debuting the PPQ. I wasn't aware that there were any Smith PPQ's, only P99's. (Unless the PPQ only has a small roll mark saying "imported by S&W" as opposed to the P99 and S&W hybrid guns)

Love it! The trigger is hands down the best of any striker fired pistol I have ever shot. The CZ-P10c and HKVP9 were touted by the "purchased" reviewers as having triggers "about the same" but they are liars. I love my glocks and love my P10C but the PPQM2 is one of my favorites to shoot. Ergonomics are outstanding. The pistol is very accurate (for a pistol). The only negatives are the factory sights suck (one grade above the ridiculous plastic glock puts on theirs) and the recoil is more snappy than others to me some due in part to the higher bore axis.

Sights are not good at least to me, that's why I put on a set of Dawson Precision big improvement

There were never any s&w ppq's like the sw99 smith version of the p99 that I'm aware of at least. It would have been dubbed the swpq, doesn't have the right ring to it lol

This is just one man's, and not an expert shooter's, opinion. I had the PPQ M2 5" 9mm & thought it was the coolest looking gun ever. But I didn't shoot it that well & traded it. Then I came across a standard PPQ M2 9mm I couldn't pass on, and I shoot lights out with it. Maybe it's just me . . .

Maybe not just you, I know a few people who shoot the compact versions of guns better than their full size variants. My 5” Q is almost phenomenal in the accuracy department. My standard is pretty dang on good to.

Here is what a PPQ with the S&W marking looks like. I bought mine in November 2011.

I absolutely love my PPQ (9mm, M1). I prefer the paddle mag release (M1) to the button release. I have not ever said this with any other firearms I own, but ... just buy one and I would bet you like it. I have not heard yet of anyone saying they really disliked the PPQ. I have heard a few who have owned both a PPQ and the VP9 and slightly preferred the VP9 for one reason or another, but they still highly respected the PPQ.

I wanted to get a VP9 since I love my HK45C, but the VP9 trigger makes my trigger finger sore after shooting a few rounds.

I'll be the heretic here. I like everything I read and saw about the PPQ ... until I finally got one of my hand. Just completely did not feel right for me. I probably just have weird hands, but the ergonomics were just wrong, it was downright uncomfortable. And I was kind of sad about that, because I'd been eyeballing the PPQ to add to the collection for a while.
