My dad bought a Walther PPS lastnight, and tonight we went to the range and fired it. He fired between 30-40 rounds through it with no problems whatsoever. My brother fired a magazine or two through it with no problems.

Now comes my turn. Insert magazine, rack slide, pull trigger....nothing. The tension in the trigger just wasn't there. So I drop the mag, pull back the slide and a round ejects. So I reinsert mag, give it a bit of a slap, rack the slide, and fires no problem. I ended up having this problem a few more times, though not on the first shot but the second. But I'd drop the mag, a round would eject, reload, and do it again and it would work. I eventually would apply a little extra pressure to the bottom of the magazine as I racked the slide, and didn't encounter any problems. All told, I shot about 30-40 rounds.

So I'm guessing its a failure to feed properly, or could it be something else?

Thanks

If it fed a round into the chamber each time, then its not a feeding problem. I'd give customer service a call.

When you pulled the trigger and it had no tension, was the slide completely closed?

I'm pretty sure it was, I'd push on it. though I obviously can't recall at this time. Will have to fire it again and see what happens.

I wouldn't wait to shoot it again. There is a significant problem, and it won't fix itself. It needs a trip back to the factory. You might call the dealer and talk to them. Its a lot less hassle to have them ship it, and, one would hope, they'd want to make the customer happy by helping to make things right.

I'd just like to be sure what the problem is before any action is taken. To make sure it isn't me that it is the problem.

If it does have to go back I'm sure the dealer will be more than happy to send it in. They did for my dad's Taurus afterall.

I'm fairly certain the pps doesn't have a magazine disconnect.

I seem to recall that some people had trouble early in the pps run with the backstrap coming loose activing that safety feature. Be sure the backstrap is locked in place firmly. Worst case call S&W and they'll take care of you. They'll send you a prepaid shipping label so you won't even have to hassle with the gun shop.

A magazine disconnect is available on the PPS. There's a page in the manual
that tells you how to check for the feature. Mine does not have the feature.
