I want a rifle that no one makes. Something long-ranged, powerful, and very accurate. Here's what I'd like:

-Left-handed bolt action, stainless steel
-.300 Win Mag chambering
-Full 5-round magazine (5+1?), or a 5/10 round detachable box mag
-24" fluted heavy barrel, stainless steel
-All stainless parts finished black
-Properly bedded stock, with studs for Harris Bipod and shooting sling, finished green or woodland camo
-M1913-spec optics rail
-Excellent high-powered optic, plus a Gen III+ Night vision optic

And then a few thousand dollars to take a bunch of precesion rifle classes from places like Thunder Ranch, Gunsite, and Rifles Only.

Taking donations now. :cool:

Nightcrawler;

The basic platform is there. Winchester made LHB's in their classic stainless new model 70 in the mid-to-late 1990's. Mine's in .30-06 with BOSS. The .300 Winchester magnum was catalogued in 1997 with or without BOSS. At that time, I was told by Winchester that the initial production run was 200 stainless LHB classic actions. I don't know if there have been further production runs, but I can tell you that at least what you want is out there. The cataloge number was 11663 without BOSS & 11563 with.

The barrels on the .300's were 26" from the factory. As far as the magazine capacity you want, not in the magnum rounds. Three in the mag with the .532 bolt face. Gonna spend some money at the smith for that feature. The black finish on the stainless is certainly available from several different sources, Robar being one of them. Get a McMillan stock, have it properly fitted by a good smith & don't look back. The McMillan will be available in whatever color you desire.

Hmmmmm, around $500.00 or so for a used Winnie. Another $450.00 or so for the stock & fitting. Blacken the finish, bipod, sling, mounts, etc, another $500.00 or so. Let's say $300.00 for gunsmithing the custom magazine capacity you desire. Given your proposed budget, I'd like to sell you some optics. Let's see, I should be able to retire several years early!

Savage seems to be the go-to people for left-handed rifles. You can get a 24" bbl LH 300 Win Mag, but not in a heavy barrel.

Perhaps your best bet is to start with a Blaser LRS-2.

I thought it came in 300 Win Mag, but SIGArms has been saying that they're updating that web site for several months now.

The bolt is replacable with a LH one.
