I felt the same way about my first nickel plated handgun. Too nice to shoot I thought so it never went to the range.
Ended up selling it to a friend who didn't have any problem firing it up and found that it was extremely reliable and accurate too! To make a long story short, I eventually got my gun back and it's right where it aught to be... with me!

Yep, every other trip to the range I rotate between the Colt Combat Commander and my Browning Hi-Power. The one gun I always take is my Beretta Model 70S. Have to have a .22 to get the party started!

Not blued, so disqualified by OP, but kinda classy, IMO, so can't resist posting, hah!!

I think it had two layers of black paint on it.

Anyway, for my input on the OP, FWIW, you can't beat either a CZ-75 or a Hi-Power.
