Hello,

I will be giving my father an HK USP9c as a gift, and I was wondering what to do in terms of the warranty. There's two spaces for info on the card: "Purchaser's info" (me) and "Warranty assigned to".

So do I just fill it in with my father's info under "warranty assigned to"? I don't know much about these "straw purchase" laws. (I think I'm okay, since it really is going to be a gift, and I bought the gun with my own money) but I don't want to get in trouble over some stupid warranty card. Sorry for being so paranoid. :) BTW, I live in Texas. Thanks!

Just have your dad fill out the warranty card like he's the one that bought it. The feds couldn't give a crap less about what's on the warranty card.

I contact Ruger about this very thing (giving a .45colt Bisley to my FIL) and they said it would be no problem at all . They said if he had a problem they would take care of him.

Well...my dad can't exactly fill out the warranty card because they require a copy of the reciept, and my name is on the receipt.

Then you've already answered your own question. Again, the feds don't give a rat's.

BTW, that's pretty cool you're getting your dad a gun. If you ever need to be adopted, let me know.
