I'm my own Santa Claus,,,
And I was very good to myself this year.

I had a bit over a Grand saved up for the Wannenmacher's Show in Tulsa,,,
I was looking for one specific rifle but had no luck finding one,,,
So I decided to just throw good sense to the wind,,,
And spend that grand on other guns.

I had originally wanted a KKW rimfire trainer to match my K98 Mauser,,,
But there were none to be had so I decided to go a different way.

I found a nice civilian Mauser ES340B on GunBroker,,,
It's the exact (well really close) gun as the KKW,,,
But with a sporter stock instead of military,,,
It will arrive at my LGS this Wednesday.

I wanted a .22 handgun to pair up with a Savage Mk-IIF rifle,,,
The gun I chose was a Rossi R98 Plinker revolver,,,
I've been looking for one for over 6 months.

Since I couldn't find one I chose a Ruger Mk-III Standard instead,,,
It arrived a few days before my Christmas vacation started,,,
I usually pair semi's with semi's but this is still a nice duo.

A friend had a Charter Arms .38 Undercover that she bought new,,,
Unfortunately she never liked the gun very much,,,
She couldn't hit anything with it.

She found a Taurus 9mm that she liked a lot better,,,
Since I wanted a revolver just like hers to pair with my Charter Arms Pathfinder,,,
I found the Taurus she liked, bought it new on sale, and promptly traded for her gun straight across.

Then, as the fates would have it,,,
I was notified that Buds had the Rossi R98 back in stock,,,
So I moved the Ruger Mk-III into the case with my Mossberg 702 Plinkster.

The Rossi R98 should hit my LGS before the New Year,,,
My Mossie has a proper semi-auto companion,,,
And my Savage has a proper revolver mate.

  • One very high quality single-shot .22 rifle,,,
  • One brand new Ruger Mk-III pistol,,,
  • One slightly used .38 revolver,,,
  • One brand new .22 revolver.
I had to add just a bit to the original Grand,,,
But I'm a single man so I'll do without my morning treat,,,
I can make my own morning coffee for a month and make it all up.

So yes,,,
Santa was very good to me this year. :D

I cashed in my Cabellas points about three weeks ago on a VP9, but nothing from Santa.

Of course I wouldn't deliver gifts to my house either if there was a chance I'd be shot for breaking and entering. :D

I picked up an upper from Compass Lake; high school season running up and down the fields with the kiddies finally yielded a check (soccer ref).

Bartelein 24" heavy stainless barrel in .223 Wylde, free float aluminum forend, with matched and headspaced bolt carrier group. I got the email that it was ready and drove out on the 24th to pick it up. Also got a tour of the facility by the owner and tips on brass preparation and suggestions on components and powder charges to get best results. Mated with a lower I built on an Anderson receiver with Giselle trigger and topped with a 20x scope.

Tomorrow it makes its first trip to the range.

I had bought my wife something expensive earlier this month. Ordinarily, she would always grouse when I buy another gun so seizing the opportunity bought a 357 lever gun a few days later.

There's an expensive gun I've been eyeing for the past yr so after moving some end of the yr money. I.e college fund, ira, decided to get the gun. A les baer heavyweight monolith with 1.5 guarantee. Went with the 1.5 since it was only 148 difference factoring in the shipping between 2 vendors .should arrive early next week.

Got a round butt S&W model 10 and a set of RCBS cowboy 38/357 dies since this is another new caliber for me.

I'd say I did alright.

Skipped me by (which is OK) for more deserving people. I did capture this image of Santa e/r to some deserving kid's home. Note the four elves trailing behind Santa who carries on one shoulder his bag of gifts and on the other a scoped AK with which he can fire tracers to light up the night sky. His tracked chariot is in the background too.

Santa brought me a couple pounds of silver bullion this year.
I have enough firearms, reloading gear, ammo, and etc. that I can't use it all. Time to diversify.

This was a great year for me. I bought a 10/22 international which has a manlicher stock, aCZ 455 in 22 magnum with a mannlicher stock, a Keltec pmr 30, and the best gift from my brother a fnh fnx tactical 45 cal.:neener::neener:

Santa Claus been BBerry BBerry good to me this year! Wanted something for awhile now for indoor practicing and have it with these very well made pistols. Also have a Remington Model 1858 coming soon.

Know what's better than the wife giving you a Model 10?

10-5 1962 vintage in good shape.

10-7 1977 vintage in not so good shape. Royal Hong Kong Police Trade in. Missing much finish, but locks up solid and functionally is very good.

Two Model 10's:evil:

TC Venture 204 Ruger. Now im trying to decide if my wife loves me or trying to get me out of the house. hmmm?

I got an annual membership to a local indoor range, and pistol ammo. It will be great to be able to go to the range, bring my own targets, and not have to spend anything at all.

(not that I every really buy ammo locally from a range or gun store of course, but still)

No guns this year, they only thing related to that is a QD bipod which is pretty dang cool imo. But (s)he was good to me anyway. Proffesional grade meat slicer and Joe Satriani tickets. And i mean pro grade. That thing is a beast! When it came in the mail she put a tarp over it and made me carry it in the house because she couldnt even move it! I was wondering what the heck could be that heavy. What a gift!

Got some SAF-T ROUNDS from the future father in law and a copy of P. O. Ackley Volume 1 from the brother. Other than that it was mostly stuff for the house.

Very nice Christmas concidering we have had NO snow this year. I managed to find the same model Marlin that was my first .22. Sold mine way back for some stupid reason. Santa wife supplied the funds to get it. I spend my xtra cash to get my daughter a 20ga Maverick shotgun.

Santa brought me a new backpacking pack and a Jetboil Flash, nothing firearms related though. But to keep the post firearms related, I carry a Glock 20 with me when I backpack!

Got a Dillon 550B from my kids. I wasn't expecting that and it totally blew me away!

Laphroaig

got a Competition Electronics pro chronograph from the wife and kids, but I still need to buy that Nikon Prostaff 5!

Oh, and I did buy myself a Browning Buckmark Plus UDX on the 23rd. :)
