I was just trying to give some idea of the thinking and the math behind my post. I have no illusions that Chicago will suddenly become a peaceful metropolis or that Xi Jinping will give up his authoritarian control.

I like that you point out the shootings compared to deaths. Only about a third of all gunshot wounds end up being fatal in a given year. That leaves the majority of them as non-fatal and probably underrepresented when we have discussions about gun violence in America.
regardless, I wasn't trying to get into a hair splitting contest.

At one point, the Chicago PD was distinguishing "indoor" and "outdoor" shootings, as if one could be addressed and the other not. And that was cited on a blog run by a then serving Chicago police officer. With that mindset in play, banning any weapon more efficacious than a flint knife would have no effect whatever.

1 year is only 50% of 2 years. Apparently your math abilities are suspect, but we already knew that from you being suckered by crap reporting and percentages that are all but meaningless.
But no, I'm not going to back off on clearly biased reporting that uses incomplete data to draw bad conclusions and uses numbers to fool simple folk.

Lots of people exclude the outliers when they report their groups. How many times do you see people talking about their accurate rifles as long as they ignore the fliers? If you shoot Five 5-shot groups and have one flyer in each one, your rifle could have a serious accuracy problem if you claim it misses 20% of the time. Of course, most people would point out that's not really all that important. You don't seem to understand why and I'm not going to explain high school statistics to you any more.
