Yes Members of THR This Thread is going to Once and for all tm answer the question most often asked :" What gun for my wife, girlfriend, daughter , sister , mom, grandma ,aunt, and the bitch. No not the MIL, the female dog of the house.

The kids of some folks I know, and that have adopted me as Uncle, decided to assist THR. Yes they read THR, and :

" gee whiz, they sure do ask the same questions a lot"
" doesn't anybody use the search function?
" that site with that Cat in Corner is cool, it has good stuff"
" it is pink, got lace and girly stuff, but it is cool, and I am boy saying so"
" *woof* *woof* - Golden Retriever - she offered input .
" *snag * - The Black Lab - he also provided input, once he burped upon finishing the Pringles.
" Dang YOU! - err, that would be my lady friend, owner of the Black Lab, she and other ladies provided input as well.

As you can tell we had a qualified panel to address this question and Once and for all tm, answer this question.

This was [strike] impromptu [/strike] carefully planned and [strike] funny as all get out [/strike] seriously approached.

First gathering took place with all sorts of firearms [strike] strewn every-which-a-way [/strike] strategically laid out , while being cleaned and inspected.

I'd suggest making a pot of coffee, taking a smoke break , ordering a Pizza to be delivered, and "they have to take notes just we do in school".

I will give you folks an opportunity to get settled and call in that Pizza Order...

:)

Ladies tend to gravitate to things that catch their eyes.

Golden Retriever :
She likes the Nickel Browning BDA . You don't understand, I mean she sash-shays them hips, gets that smile, and she is something else. Gets real flirtatious.
She hates Glocks, in fact she hates anything black, and polymer. Put it this way, she likes Shotguns as her first firearm choice, it means she is going to go hunting, and retrieve something. She was given a synthetic forearm off a shotgun, returned to wood furniture - and destroyed that black synthetic forearm in short order.

Two year old :

Model 29 in .44 magnum. She prefers the .44 magnum loads, they are bigger and the lead writes better on a wall than .44 Special. Sexy is a two year old in a Shoulder Rig with Coverall cut offs and no shirt.
Just the shoulder rig and Red Crayon with this lady , and give her a scrap piece of drywall - no problem of taking care of business.

Twelve year old:
"How many do I get to pick?"
"Try to narrow it down"
"Why?"
*ahem*

Model 64 3" RB HB "I want six of these please"
Model 65 3" Ladysmith (but take the stupid writing off it!")
Model 60 (2) Seems a "lady" needs both the Bobbed hammer and bone stock one.
Model 18 .22 revolver
Model 19
Model 29
Model 10 "just two of every one ever made - okay?"
Model 36
Model 37
Model 66
-stop-
"But I have not gotten to the semi-autos yet"

Basically this lady theory is "collect the whole set and start with Older S&Ws

to be continued...

Brian,

This "panel" of ladies are more dedicated, more precise, and take great pains in choosing handguns.

"Okay, grandpa gave me 5 thingies to shoot - now show me what gun shoots these bad boys" .

She went with the Colt Python. "Yeah well , it is like this, it has the prettiest blue, neatest stocks, and I look so sweet helping grandpa shoot it".

<finger to cheek with twist, with a eye wink> :)

Tried a similar test in my home but had a much smaller panel. The wife seems to like my favorite .357s and .22 revolvers. Has a misguided perception they're partly hers and isn't above claiming one as hers alone.
My dog, the female mutt doesn't like guns period.
The parrot doesn't give a s--- as long as it's not near her seed bowl.
When my daughter-inlaw enters the house, all guns are secured and locked with the keys held by me alone since even to hear her talk about guns scares the crap out of me. She's always telling us all about how her husband, my son, lets her shoot his Glock 17 which makes me question the wife about whether he's really my boy or not.:D
