Web resources for single action techniques

I have been looking for a free web resource to help me get started with single action revolver shooting.

I have shot autoloaders for awhile, so I'm really looking for information on the proper grip, proper position of my weak hand, and how to be smoother when I cock the hammer.

It's really pretty hard to find good single action shooting demos on the web due to the majority being clips showing trick shooting or stupid people doing stupid things.

If I were you, I'd check out the Single Action Shooting Society. You can attend one of their events and get some firsthand, in person, real, live feedback and instruction. And, if you want to take part, you can.

If you're looking for vids on cowboy-action type shooting, I thought Chris Gordon's Youtube vids were exceptionally good and very informative. A rarity on Youtube, it seems.

Also, look up some writings of John Taffin. His book (Single Action Sixguns), though not free, is worth a read and has a bit about SAA technique.

you have a nagant. i have mine in one hand and my SASS ruger 45 LC in the other. grip size aside, they both handle similar. any basic technique you master single action with the nagant will transfer well to a cowboy pistol. the nagants floating firing pin does not lend it to dry firing, but to get the feel of grip & cocking should be fine. find a local SASS or CASS near you. friendly bunch & you will find much knowledge there. good luck. ps. cocking the nagant is harder than even a stock SA.
