Well...Kind of weekend...
Started last weekend on grip to refinish it...had 4 coats of tung oil on by Wednesday evening...
After buying, I identified what i had considered needed repaired or wanted to repair.
Barrel lug to Frame Gap (very noticeable gap when held up to light)
Short Arbor (approx .021 upon initial inspection)
Hammer to nipple spacing(hammer needs at least .015 filed down for proper clearance)
Hammer Safety notch filled with epoxy
Hammer roller for main spring seized up (seized from factory, cut out for wheel wasn't deep enough, had to use dremel cutting discs, 2 together for thickness, then cut a deeper area for roller to spin freely)
Smooth out the spent cap removal port
Filed and smoothed out all internals
Lightened up bolt spring a little
After repairing barrel lug to frame mating surface, I then made spacers to repair short Arbor. I then had to file forcing cone to end up with a good cylinder gap for this brasser (.005)
Replaced nipples with treso ampco nipples
New Wedge
A little Oxpho blue here and there
2 layers of Minwax wood wax on grips
I figured 8 hrs all together including grip refinish, everything feels real good now. I originally bought this ASM 1860 to cut down (belly gun) but after getting it i realized the barrel was 8 inches and had no manufactor or Black powder markings on the sides and looked to good to cut down.
1990 ASM 1860 all slicked up and ready to go
