Weekly Wal-mart Trip

Last 100 rounds of 9mm 124gn XTP's I loaded up cost me a whooping $23.00. Last 230gn XTP's .45 ACP cost me a big total of $24.00 per hundred. Thats total,,, powder, primers, tax and all! Match quality ammo I can blast off all day and never have to enter China-Mart. All tuned for my weapons. :)

I don't even go in there and buy Tulu or other ammo for my AK. I go to a GUN SHOP! Yeah I pay .15 cents more a 20 box. But then sometime I get a deal on a nice spam can.

If China-Mart has it and I can't find it any place else. It's simple,,, I don't need it.

Just don't ever try to go get ammo late at night...I went into the local WM one night for a few things. I wasn't there specifically for ammo, but I usually try to buy a box or two (or three :) ) when I'm there if they have it; nothing worse than not being able to buy it when you need it! Anyway, I spent 20 minutes walking around the store looking for someone with a key! Plus, since I live in anti-Illinois, they keyholder also has to have a FOID card! So that's a double whammy :banghead:

Wall-mart has relatively cheap .38 spl +p for my snubbie. Only place in town but after I buy the one box on the shelf, I have to wait another month for the next one.

I suspect the questions are prompted by their point of sale system. Walmart is a huge legal target and is hated by the left. Buy a racy DVD, you get the same questions, it is all programed to meet whatever law they feel they need to obey.

They are probably more scrupulous about obeying laws and regulation than many retail establishments since they are such a big target financially.

There really isn't anything evil going on there. I don't really care for shopping at Walmart since Meijers often has better pricing and the place is just nicer including customers and salesclerks.

The ammo at my local Meijer is waaay more expensive and has far less selection. However, I do like the stores better due to their customer service

It's the same scenario in SC Walmart stores. I have to find someone in automotive to page a guy back to sporting goods. Then I get asked the rifle/handgun question.

The only reason I tend to buy from Walmart is because it is convenient, cheaper than online usually if you count shipping, and the other local guys charge over double the price for the same box of ammo.

I believe prices are a bit higher here in SC than in TX though. A 100rd WWB of 9mm costs about $23.99 here.

"This time I got the 'Is this for a handgun?' Funny thing was that they specifically asked regarding the .45 ammo. I thought that was kinda weird, any thoughts. "

Most Wally World customers shoot the Thompson M1921. :D

I never get or haven gotten asked. But I am 6'2" large build and have my 45 on my hip.
Of course most of the drips are dumb so part of my mission is to educate them a bit.

Guess we need a new Walmart thread. Seems to be one every month and the same things are said. Walmart has their own rules for selling ammunition and firearms. You accept them or you don't buy from them.
