I just took a call from a friend of mine who has an interesting story. He lives in a suburb of KC and was hitting the local Wal-Mart to check on their ammo supply. From what he was telling me this store has had nothing for a while. To his amazement, they had roughly 15, 100 round boxes of WWB in .45 ACP. He was going to buy them all but the sales rep said he could only sell him 2 boxes! It's a new limit they've introduced so more people have the chance to buy. We were both a little shocked. I'm curious, what does everyone else think? Has anyone else heard of a Wal-Mart limiting ammo?

In my area they would need to have some on hand in order to limit it...completely dry!

A few months ago my local Bass Pro ordered several pallets of Remington 9mm for a sale they were going to have. The limit was ten boxes. They ended up with most of it left after the sale because people didn't bother if they could only get 500 rounds. Of course Mr. O has changed all of that at this point and I suspect that they would sell out in a matter of hours just a few short months later.

our dicks sports here in princeton had plenty of ammo cept a few specific ones. but did have quite a bit of 45 acp and 9mm

I agree long overdue, and should be implemented nation wide by Walmart until the ammo supply stabilizes. If Walmart has ammo on the shelf it may elevate some of the panic buying.

I was in Wally an hour ago. Very little to choose from. Most of what was there, I had no need for...so i didn't buy anything. Its been like that for a while. I talked to the counter guy. He said ammo comes in and its gone in short order. I guess its just my timing.

Mark.

I haven't seen anything at Wal-Mart in months, aside from odd calibers. Yet, they have HUNDREDS of boxes of shotgun shells in all sizes. My dad bought 100 shells of 1-1/8 oz target load (2-3/4") for $22.75 last week! That's cheaper than 100 rounds of 9mm at wal-mart!

here in Phoenix, 9mm and 45acp are everywhere, 45 colt and 32 acp almost non-existent. weird.

i just bought 5 boxes (500 rounds)CCI 22lr sunday, salesman asked if it is for pistol or rifle, i said pistol then he asked for ID. nothing said about limit, but got lucky, was there as they stocking it, normaly no ammo to be had...

I was talking to a clerk at WalMart last weekend. He said that as soon as it's unloaded, people come in and buy cases. He thinks some of it is for resale. I would like to see a limit of 10 boxes so everybody gets a shot. Who would have thought it would come to this ?

I buy a lot when they have it. I don't hoard it, I shoot it. No limits here. Academy did limit me to 200 rounds each of .223 and 7.62x39

No limits at the wally world here. The shelf is just empty. I haven't seen a box of 45 acp in three months.

What I find slightly amusing is that if someone suggested Walmat ration ammo 2 years ago, the board would have been in an uproar that the evil corporation was pandering to the gun control lobby and oppressing gun owners everywhere by restricting how much ammo a person could buy at once.

I think all gun stores should limit us to 2 boxes of ammunition (100 rounds) per month. It's really just "sensible." After all, who really needs more than 100 rounds per month except for crazy gun nuts who hoard 100's and 100's of rounds of ammunition?

I just lost faith in the political and moral fortitude of you guys. (See Jorg's comment above)

Not to my knowledge, they aren't.

Why should they? Instant huge profits, or long, drawn out "hope to finally sell this stuff" profits, should be a no-brainer. If people are willing to go in and PAY for a crap-ton of ammo, then they should SELL that person a crap-ton of ammo, as long as they have it.

This is such an elementary situation. ECON101: Introduction to Microeconomics. Demand is too high. Therefore, the price is too low. The price should be raised. Supply will then increase. Eventually demand will ease. Then the price will be too high. The price should then decrease. Doesn't anyone else know this stuff anymore?

I vote NO. No rationing of any sort. Let it continue to be the luck of the draw. Don't get me wrong, I would love a chance at some ammo. The problem lies not now, but when the "panic" is over. Large corporations, not unlike government, once a policy is in place are at best, reluctant, to go back to the way things once were. If rationing becomes policy, it will stay in place indefinitely. And the antis will support it and use it against us. For the short term, I will remain content practicing with .22, since that's what my kids shoot anyways. Besides, this "panic" will work to our advantage. Once everyone has a vast quantity of ammo, and nothing to do with it, they will be more likely to find a better use for it than "practice" and "hoarding", then we can watch the change our president promised!

My Brother was at an Academy here in MO and they are doing the same thing with .45ACP.

I have mixed feelings on this--I hate the idea of rationing but then again every store around here is sold out when I go to buy. I broke down and ordered from Ammo To Go only took a week to get!

In a weird way guys hoarding ammo is working like gun control by keeping others from being able to find ammo to shoot.

While driving all over these great states, I stop at any wally world to check on ammo and purchase if it is available. The only store I ever encountered a 'limit' on purchases was in Ft Collins, CO. They would only sell you 5 of any one ammo brand/quantity at a time. They had no problem with me buying 5 boxes each of .45 .40 9mm and .22lr.
