So, I'm debating between a Single Six 22 lr/mag convertable, and a Super Blackhawk Hunter. One factor I'm considering is that the SBH is already cut for scope rings, and I wasn't crazy about the idea of having to tap a Single Six frame. I will definatly be hunting with whichever revolver I eventually purchace, and a scope is a must.

Then I found the Weigand tapless mount - it screws into the frame in place of the adjustable rear sight, and has a nylon-tipped set screw in the front of the base to stabilize the rig.

This seems like a fine idea to me, if it proves to be stable. I'm concerned about the potential for POA drift with only one firm mounting point.

Does anyone have experience with one of these mounts?

Thank you in advance.

Had the Weigand mount on my Single Six, and was very pleased with it. Held zero quite well, and didn't look all cobbed up. I would advise using Small-screw Loctite, as directions say. I only removed it because I'm returning the pistol to plinkin' duty, and wanted to be able to carry it in a normal holster.

If you're interested in buying my Weigand (along with a Stainless Tasco Pro-Class 1x20 scope [Japanese] and hammer spur, pM me, and we'll discuss. All are perfect; just don't need them now.

Rail for Single Six and Plain Blackhawk

I have mounted several scopes on my SA Rugers. The 357 have a Weaver Brand that claps to the barrel and rear sight, works will, but this mount will not hold on any caliber larger. The 41 mag. takes a BSquare mount that attaches to the front and rear sight, work prefectly.

I like it so much, I used the same type on my Single Six. It a bit of overkill on this small a caliber, but I am sure it will not fall off.

BSquare costs run around the same as the brand you mentioned. I bought that brand and type of rail to place on me Ruger 454 Super Redhawk. I have seen a similar rail type mount for the Super Redhawk in BSquare cost a little less, but not much. The addition of the rail will allow you to mount other types of sight devices.

I use an AimPoint Red Dot sight, on the 22 and the 454. Other SA have 2 and 4 power scopes.

Thanks, Alex Longoria, Houston, Tx.

I have one on my MKII, holding a cheap red dot sight. Works fine, as long as the screws are snug and there's a bit of loctite on them to keep them that way.
