I reloaded 100 rounds yesterday at 38+p and shot them at the range this morning. When finished I took the wife out for lunch and I noticed this bruise on my shooting hand wrist. Wasn't their when I left the range as I stopped and washed all the GPR off my hands. Only thing I can think that caused it was the recoil. I was shooting the equivalant of 125 grain .38+P's with my LCRx.357 ...it has the small Hogue Tamer grips off an LCR. Never had this happen before. Any thoughts? IMG_20200123_162642946.jpg

I'm doubtful that it's recoil as recoil it seems would push the arm upward and back not push the hand sideways?

Two handed grip? Is the bruise where the base of the support hand thumb presses on the wrist?

When i first shot my S&W 337PD 10 oz 38+P, i thought i broke my hand. Worse then a 460 in T/C 15". Or the 30-30.

I would head to the ER.

The 3" LCRx is 21 oz. so I really don't feel any recoil with .38+P's.

I put dust seals around my trucks tailgate and it closes a little hard. Was in and out of it a few times this AM, though it's never bothered me before.. It's a mystery at this point. I coulda slapped it into the wall sleeping last night for all I know. I did wake up with a sore shoulder. LOL

I don't think it merits a trip to the ER.

Because it showed up after shooting, I thought it might me related.

Of shooting wrist, I am assuming.

Is it causing pain, swelling, stiffness, numbness or tingling?

How about when trying to write or putting pressure when mimicking trigger pull?

No pain, no tenderness, no swelling, no tingling, no numbness. I just cleaned the two guns I used today and loaded some snap caps in and have been doing some dry fire practice. Everything is normal except for the discoloration.

I have beat my shoulders up pretty good, right shoulder was so sore I switched to the left, should have just quit in retrospect.

Never had anything that looked like that from pistol shooting, including some I have chambered in centerfire rifle calibers.

When shooting an M14 getting ready for an event, I shot every day. A bruise on my shooting shoulder developed. No soreness (shooting the rifle didn't bother me), no pain. It went away after the event. Nothing much of concern.

I did something very similar to that a couple of weeks ago. My washing machine is making a loud noise on the spin cycle. A YT video told me I needed to break loose the big nut on the bottom of the drum in order to access the worn out bearing. I was beating on a wrench with the palm of my hand trying to break the frozen nut loose. No success. But I did turn my palm and wrist a nice color like yours. And it was sore. But it went away in about a week. And I bet yours will too. Maybe next time try a shooting glove or just any thin leather glove and see if that helps. An old glove you can cut the fingers off of.

I am going to go with the broke blood vessel.

You might have smacked it on something without realizing you'd done it, it's very common in my world.

Don't mean to be an alarmist, but doing an activity that didn't previously bruise you suddenly starts bruising you can be a symptom of a rather serious condition. It's worth having it checked out. Most likely nothing, but if it is something you'll be glad you did.
