I've had my walther p22 for years now and today after shooting it "haven't shot it in 4 months" the double action is not working... if you de-cock manually by holding the hammer and depressing the trigger etc.etc. when you pull the trigger you get a click "the hammer cycles" but fails to strike to cartridge.... the problem is also happening if you decock by pulling the trigger and letting the hammer fall while the gun is on safe. I stripped it down checked for worn springs, bent pins etc. can't seem to find anything this is pissing me off because It's been working fine for years, sat a few months due to the ammo shortage now it's not working. in single action or when it's cocked by the slide after firing a round it works fine. full and deep firing pin marks on the rounds after firing but if you de-cock the pistol it fails to fire until you manually cock the hammer. Seems as if it's hitting something rather than striking the primer.

Well the main problem with it is that it is a Walther P22. I had one too and it was a huge piece of garbage.

How to fix that issue, I don't know. Genuinely sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I haven't really had any problems with it "other than this" of course mine is first gen I don't know if they went down in quality, it's a little bit ammo picky but makes a good pocket 22

my most reliable .22 "auto" is a sig mosquito which is pretty much everyone elses worst reliable .22... as long as you feed it medium or better quality ammo like mini-mags or winchester superspeed it'll run 400+ rounds before cleaning and still work flawlessly.

My P22 had 3-4 jams per mag. I tried CCI Minimags, CCI Stingers, and various types of bulk ammo. I also bought two different mags and changed the springs out before I gave up on it. It just didn't want to work. I also kept it clean and well lubed, field stripping and cleaning after every range trip.

Needless to say I don't have anything positive to say about them. Lots of people have had better luck with them, I've seen videos and reviews that were positive and showed the guns working well. My experience has left me jaded and I'll never try one again.

im just plain lucky as my (daughter's) P22 has been flawless, far more reliable than a few other guns i own. in fact i have owned 1911s that couldnt stumble through two magazines without failing in some way....

400 rounds to failure is unacceptable to me in a .22. Not that its bad, but I can shoot that much, and more, in a day or two. My mkII hasn't been cleaned in a couple of years, and it runs fine.

sent from my Galaxy Note II.

Mine does the exact same thing. Overall its been a really great plinker and works great in single action. I've torn mine down to all the individual components and could find nothing amiss. Did a bunch of searching online and found nothing similar (except for now your post). I've finally quit worrying about it and just enjoy it for what it is - a great single action only plinker.

See, I understand that it works in single action but the fact that the double action isn't working means that something is wrong.

Still can't wrap my head (or wallet) around another P22.

Sadly, Umarex's whoring out of the Walther name is seriously eroding the brand.

Real Walthers are made by Walther in Ulm (P99, PPQ, and PPS) are anything but garbage, and are indeed some of the best pistols in the world.

Too bad so many buyers' first experience with a "Walther" is with the potmetal hunk-of-junk called the P22.

Had same problem with older Walther P22. I was able to find out that the firing pin had a spur or rough spot on the side. Sometimes it would catch in the firing pin channel causing a failure to fire. I removed the firing pin and used a small file to smooth it out, this simple fix was the cure for it. Hope that helps.
