AK,
1.275 is max oal. I measured some WWB, and they were at 1.268, so I stayed at 1.260 when loading fmj. I found 1.250 works great with plated. My Lee manual list min oal with max loads, which is most important not to go under. I like to load close to factory ammo oal, since it usually works in all guns. Roundnose bullets work best, and I you dont have one, a Lee factory crimp die, works great. If you feel to much resistance when going through a LFC die, something needs to be adjusted. To much belling, to much crimp, will be noticed, and you can adjust. If anything, there a great insurance your rounds will chamber, if there not to long:) Good luck!

I went shooting today with my browning HP 9mm, and had several loads I was testing. My lighter loads jammed (failure to feed and go into battery completely) EVERY time. My heavier loads functioned perfectly.
Many years ago in college, my best friend had a Browning Highpower.

One day, using the Hornady manual, he loaded up a bunch of 9x19mm.

Going out to the claypits outside of town where everyone shot, he got strange results with his ammo.

He'd chamber a round, pull the trigger and get a "bang". When he pulled the trigger again, he'd get a "click".

Not paying too close attention, he'd rack the slide and try again. Again he'd get a "bang" followed by a "click".

I started watching closely what was happening. I noticed that after the "click" he was manually ejecting a fired case. He'd fire a round, but there wasn't enough recoil force to completely cycle the gun. The slide would come back far enough to cock the hammer, but not eject the fired case or chamber a new round.

When we got back to his dorm room, I noticed the manual open on his desk. Looking at the page to which it was turned, I asked him, "Is this the load you used?" He said it was. I then turned forward a page and showed him that he was using .380acp loading data, which preceded the 9x19mm in the manual. The bullet he was using was the same for .380 and 9x19mm.

My bet is that this guy is using a too light load.

deanimator,

if you were listening, ive used these same powder loads at least through 1,000 rounds. my neighbor uses the same powder load as me with the same powder and also hasnt had problems. (its more of the gun not liking swc bullets)
