Well, no ammo and limited firearms, what you been buying lately?

Yesterday, one pound of gun powder (the store limit). But...the price was pre-panic, at $27. One watches evening news, scans newspapers for politicians' comments and plans ahead when there is ready cash. Ammo has been accum. since '08.

550 rds. of .22LR for $150 in Pensacola FL today.;) I wanted to laugh, but just nodded, kept a poker face and left.
They only need a very gullible type for a nice profit. The gun shop is on Navy Blvd. just east of the hump bridge.

On-line with shipping, 7.62x54R costs less than such .22 ammo. "GunBot" has maybe a dozen types and "Ammoseek" many more, but not many updates.

Haven't bought much gun-related stuff lately. I stocked up well before and after the last panic, plus I don't shoot that much anyway. I've bought a couple boxes of 12 gauge 00 buckshot, just 'cuz it was there.

Havent seen a ups truck since january.got a good supply of ammo, but it would be nice to see that truck pull up once in a while.havent bought a thing since january.might just buy new tires for the corvette untill things get better.

Buying things subject to ban in MD

I have a AR Lower that is waiting for the the background check to finish at the FFL and another reserved. I hope to get 1 more lower and 1-2 pistols before the MD ban goes into place.

Right now, I am buying a few ar15 magazines while I wait for the background check.

As for ammunition, I am holding off for a few more weeks for the panic to subside a bit more. I found a local gun store that actually had 5.56 in stock but at elevated prices.

I went to the Fun Show yesterday and bought nothing.

I saw a stack of 9mm 115gr on one table (AE) $19.50 box. That's a bit above my threshold, but it was gone within 30 minutes. I have a good stash of ammo. I saw some handguns that were not crazy priced.

And I saw the big ammo seller with the usual factory FMJ standard 9mm for $49. Strange, he still had some 357Sig for $25 box (50). I keep saying this "I never thought I would see the day when 357Sig is 1/2 the price of 9mm". I bought a bunch of 357Sig last show (some brands were $20 box!!!!) - and I already have a TON. I have a Glock 20 with 357Sig barrel and a Sig P229 - range time for these guys soon.

There is one thing that I could never justify purchasing for the price. While I always wanted it, the cost could easily be a big chunk towards a new firearm or a batch of ammo. Despite looking at other avenues while the times are rough in the shooting sports being the main thrust of this thread, I had completely forgot until some of you guys had posted what you were doing with your money these days; things unrelated to firearms.

I got me some tattoos! A somewhat frivolous use of cash when there's just SO MANY GUNS I STILL WANT, but when the guns are rare and the ammo is even rarer (and expensive when you find it), that finally freed me up for this!

Only problem is I liked it a little too much (raised Catholic, we have a thing for unnecessary pain:p), fear that I can't balance another hobby along with mah guns.

Been looking for a .357, found a pretty filthy Security Six with beater grips in the LGS. Out the door for $400. Spent 3 hours cleaning it and $20 for grips and it turned out pretty nice. Then.....ran across an old friend who is reducing his stock of S&W 686's. Had a 4" for sale, night sights, trigger job, $700. Really couldn't afford it, but also couldn't afford to pass. So...it migrated to my safe. Then found 150 rounds of .38 for $45, so I got that too. Cash poor now, but sitting on a couple of nice revolvers and some ammo.

NRA memberships for my entire family and donations to the NRA ILA along with a life membership for myself.

I bought a case of winchester 5.56 and traded it for an upper.
Also got a case of x39mm for $350.
So I'm not to concerned with this ammo scare.
But now I have an AR with no ammo and a .22LR (I bought it recently because "I wanted a rifle I can shoot all day for really cheap") with no ammo. But that's ok, I still have the AKs and the 9130 hahah

I picked up amateur radio in just a few weeks. Studied for a couple hours and got my Tech license, then found some equipment on Craigslist to start.

I also learned to cure and age my own tobacco.

The world is full of interesting ideas and people, shooting is only one of them.

A few ounces of silver, and some nice Morgans and Peace dollars as well.

I'm now saving up for ammo when the gun show comes to town. Georgia Arms 45 colt feeds my guns quite nicely. Their "Deer Stopper" rounds pack a nice punch.

As a graduation present to myself, I am thinking about a S&W 29-2 with an 8 3/8 inch barrel.

In other words...too much.

A new (better) safe or upgrading the garage would be a good idea, but I keep finding ammo and new guns just when I'm about to give up.

Not buying much. Traded a friend 100 rounds of 45 Colt reloads (mine) for 1000 large pistol primers (his). My cost on the reloads when I did them was about $15 and his cost on the primers was about $30 so it was win/win. Also bought 1k .45 230 grain bullets from Falcon at what was a fair price ($96.50 shipped).

Oh, and I picked up a Kimber .22 conversion kit from Brownells for my 1911's.

I'm saving it to be able to help finance the comming uprising when we get fed up enough to overthrow the idiots in the government.

I'd really like to brag about what I may have/ may not have bought recently, but who wants to attract attention right now?:scrutiny:

I have bought more since the Sandy Hook tradgedy than ever before and all at reasonable or semi reasonable prices.

I live in Canada so we are a little behind on the panic curve.
The week of the tradgedy I bought 5,000 S&B SPP for $26.00/1,000.
In mid January I bought a Noveske gen1 complete lower and a Stag Arms 3G both for below retail pre panic prices.
Last month I bought my first rimfire rifle.
A Savage Mark II BSEV for $499.00 brand new.
I also purchased CCI SV and Mini-Mags and Federal Premium Target ammo at pre panic pricing.
I bought 2 500ct boxes of .30 SMK's in 168gr and 180gr at 5% over regular price by being in the store when their order arrived.
I received an 8lb jug of IMR XBR which I ordered long ago also at regular price.
I put on hold 1,000 Federal GMM 210M primers that I must go pick up tomorrow.
I overpaid for Varget by $3.00 a pound for 3 pounds yesterday but this way I'm sure I have enough with what I already have on hand to load my 1,000 SMK's and then some.

The one thing I can't find is bulk .224" 55gr FMJ's for a reasonable price.
The cheapest I can find is $160.00/1,000 which I'm not willing to pay since my current stash cost me only $55.00/1,000 2 years ago.

Bought a nitro piston air rifle, 1200fps in .177 cal. Mercilessly slaughtering dirt squirrels and sharpening my aim. Not bragging or anything but i got one the other day at 30ish yards, standing, boom, headshot!! Ok maybe my barrel was braced against the corner of my shop..... But i was standing. Lol

also dirt bikes and camping with my minions. Good times

Put two Savage 10 FPs in new stocks to replace those ridiculous black plastic things they come in. Took the dinged up original stock off my old Browning BBR 7 Mag and put a McMillan in its place. Put a new walnut stock on an old M1 30 carbine - still need to finish the walnut.

Marbles tang sights for 3 lever guns and Williams sights for 2 more.

I did pick up a new Winchester 1892 lever gun in .357, but that had been ordered 9 months ago.

A few weeks ago while wandering aimlessly at a gun show there was a Colt Trooper MKIII I was unable to say no to. That was a 1976 vintage. Then this past Saturday I found a really nice Remington Model 511 at my local gun shop, at $150 out the door I had to have it. I have one but two is better than one.

Decided it was a good time to replace or add to my reloading equipment so I finally popped for a RCBS Chargemaster Combo and added a power case trimmer. Pretty much have the loading bench where I want it for now.

Away from guns & ammo time to focus on some major house renovations as the weather improves. Trying to get things done before the wife and I retire shortly and the money is there. April 30th is my last work day and been blowing off vacation days. I finally have the time to work on the house and get seriously back into my shooting. I figure heading to the range at 6 AM has to beat going to work on weekdays. :)
