I was an anti my whole life. Then 9-11 happenned and I decided to look into gun ownership. I went to a gun show and was surprised to see nice polite folks instead of the yahoos I expected.
So I have done a 180 in the last few years.

Not really anti, just accepting of certain regulations.

Grew up in a gun owning(shotguns primarily) family and pretty much figured everyone had a shotgun. Pistols were for Cops and robbers. Machine guns for soldiers.

Before I understood exactly what the AWB was I figured "why would anyone want a machine gun, you don't need it so you shouldn't have it"

Understanding the AWB and exposure to the concept of conceal carry have helped to educate me greatly.

I was never, no one in my family ever had lots of guns, but they were never against them, so thats how I was raised and here I am.

I used to think that pistols and rifles were fine, but that nobody needed to have an assault rifle.

Then I had my eyes opened to the fact that these are RIGHTS, not needs. Instant 180 degree change.

Yeah, that was me too. I got older and wiser (and fatter...).

Even as a kid we always had a gun or 2-3 in the house. My father was a Marine, the only thing he feared was my mother finding them. First gun I ever fired, Colt .45 second gun, full auto Thompson

Never anti-gun, found my first gun leaning against a tree (a Stevens Maynard 22) at age 5 (1966) walking in the woods with my dad, had guns ever since, :D

My father owned a few guns. When I was a young teenager, I went out shooting a number of times with him and my brother. It was fun. We stopped sometime after my Dad started developing health problems.

I didn't pick up a gun for years. Recently got my interest rekindled. In the meantime.... I wouldn't say I was an "anti" but I was certainly more pro-gun control.

It makes sense to me that there are antis. If a person doesn't shoot, and isn't interested in guns at all.... the main perspective many people get drilled into their heads is the harm that guns do. They just see guns as tools for criminals. They seem them as threats.

Give that same person a gun and teach them to shoot, and they might learn how fun shooting can be, and gain the confidence that they could use one to defend themselves.

Not exactly an anti, but 4 years ago, living in Canada, I remember hanging my head in shame when my Canadian friends spoke of how bad the gun culture was in America, all I could do was shrug. After leaving Canada, I moved to Albuquerque, NM where on a day off from school, I shot my first gun (an AK-47) at Calibers. Let's just say, I shoot guns a lot more now and am very pro-2a. :)

I never grew up around guns in upstate NY. My parents were didn't really care for them, but didn't care that other people owned them. We had friends and neighbors who were hunters, but that doesn't equal pro-2A.

As a child, I thought that it was OK for government agents to decide who the good guys were, and allow only the good guys to carry guns.

It didn't take long to realize that the government doesn't care who the good guys are, nor can it prevent the bad guys from carrying.

I wonder how many voted "no" while still believing as the child did.

My mom tells me that in pre-school I would stick anything remotely gun shaped in my waistband and claim it was my gun. I wanted a BB gun wayyyyy before I was allowed to have one. I remember waiting for an older neighbor to get out of school every day so I could use his crossman to shoot soda cans. I was pro-gun before I was strong enough to squeeze a trigger. :)

Never! I grew up in the hills of Tennessee and have been handling and shooting guns since I can remember. The first time I heard the term "anti" I thought some black kid was talking about his mother's sister:D
