I want to buy a .22 auto for my daughter and wife to use at the range. I'm afraid if I let them try my .357 it will be their first and last time to go. :( I've heard good things about Walther's P22, Any pros or cons to the P22? Any others I should look at?

I have a Ruger 22/45 and I love it. My mom even loved it. I've taught a few people to shoot pistols with it, and they were all very accurate with it. Plus you can get 1911 grips for it. I put the Hogue finger-grove grips on mine, and its great.

Have you considered firing 38s out of your 357? My cousin and I taught his 82y/o grandmother to shoot with my 686 4inch. Just loaded it up with 38s, she loved it.

Buckmark or Ruger. Pick the one that feels more comfortable.

I prefer the Buckmark because of the ergonomics. It's been a great gun.

The Walthers are outsourced and have zinc slides. They're fun, but I wouldn't consider one to be a gun I buy to shoot for a lifetime and hand off to my boys. I like my 1911 conversion, Ruger Single-Six, Ruger Mk-I, and Colt Woodsman better.

Ruger Mark III.

Mine is the Hunter with the longer barrel. Everyone who shoots it loves it -- except for the confirmed revolver nuts. ;)

Buy the new Ruger SR22. It is what the Walther P22 should have been. If not a Ruger MK II, or Browning Buckmark would be good too.
