These executive actions leave me wondering. For most of us it seems nothing changed after all the hoopla. Am I reading it correctly.

Don't underestimate what a hostile ATF could do.
Donald Trump's entire immigration program boiled down to an executive order and getting his guys installed at DHS and USCIS. I hardly think nothing changed.
ATF can make our lives miserable once it's under the control of a Statist cop who really doesn't think guns have any place outside law enforcement and hunting.
There’s nothing that can be done by EA or EO to impact the average person who wants to acquire an average gun. All Biden can do is nibble around the edges on stuff that doesn’t impact all that many people. Anything of consequence would already have been done by Obama after Sandy Hook.My sense of it is that Biden needed to produce some kind of "win" on gun control and he realized getting anything through Congress would be highly problematic so he settled on a couple of executive orders that are on the periphery of 2d Amendment concerns and therefore not likely to generate much of a backlash. Or, God forbid, he's just getting warmed up....

That's in the House-passed background check bill (which is stalled in the Senate) but it's not in Biden's "executive actions." He doesn't have the authority to make that change by himself. It may be worse than it looks at first glance. If that part about eliminating sales for which the background search does not come back in 3 days went into it then they have the tool to shut down sales by slowing the background check process.

The problem is that it’s a slippery slope. If you can redefine a piece of plastic as a machine gun then it’s not too far a leap to redefine most semi-autos as “easily convertible.”
I realize these two paragraphs are somewhat contradictory. That doesn’t make either of them my less true.
I had to saw a perfectly good bump stock into pieces a couple of years ago so I understand.Yeah, if you think "average gun" is a bolt action rifle or a 6 shooter revolver. I kind of thought my AR pistol was an "average gun", and potentially the EO is going to make me an instant felon. While the odds of ATF swooping down on my home and arresting me may be slim, it really doesn't sit well with me. I have always counted myself on the "law abiding" side of the line.
Am I the only one wondering if the current administration is aware of how their anti-gun stances and posturing is fueling
all the accelerated firearms purchasing, and therefore increased protectionism of the Second Amendment, or are they
simply too blind to see it? Politicians who, generally, shamelessly curry the favor of the masses are actively and intentionally alienating
constituents, as well.

What percentage of AR pattern guns do you think are configured as actual pistols? Not faux-SBR arm braced guns but actual pistols? I’m guessing less than 2%. At least you will potentially have the option of turning it into a rifle, assuming ATF finds a way to “reinterpret” the regs.
I’m not saying I agree but I am saying the things he can do won’t make a huge upheaval in the lives of most gun owners. I have a braced AR lower that I put together just so I could drive around with an SBR in the trunk without filling out the forms. If braces get nixed then it will still be useful as a rifle. My bump stock wasn’t even a good paperweight.
I would be surprised if they find a way to ban AR pistols. I think arm braces are the low hanging fruit that Mumbles might actually be able to pluck.Yeah. In this case just sawing up the pistol brace isn't going to cut it. I'm not going to have a valid reason to have the upper receiver with the short barrel once "it's a pistol" no longer cuts it. I will have to chuck it in the lake, or apply for a tax stamp.
