I recently was tasked with helping a friends widow dispose of his firearms and related gear. I am trying to identify these two items. One appears to be scope related and the other is some kind of muzzle brake or compensator. Anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance. The scope is a target model with the adjustments in the mounts. The other looks like a flash hider.

Markings on the scope would be helpful.
If it is American made by Unertl, Lyman, or Fecker, and in good optical condition it is of considerable value.
A modern MVA or DZ would be worth a bit, too.
A Chinese reproduction, "Malcolm" brand, not so much but still of interest to BPCR shooters.

The OP cut off the picture at the muzzle, but if that is a Lyman Super scope, it will work fine. If it is a straight tube, then rubbing vasoline in your eye and staring outside, will be a similar experience to what you will see through the scope.

Personally, I hate externally adjusted scopes. Don't trust them to move a click, when a click is applied. And if you bump the thing during shooting, where the next bullet goes will be a mystery. Been there, done that.

Bingo!! My old eyes didn't see the markings and I can't seem to get a decent picture.

I don't know if it's complete and one of the rings on it doesn't look original. I have a box of sight related things but none of the parts appear to be for this sight. When you say of considerable value what are we talking about? I was going to donate all of the scope rings and stuff to the LGS used box but would hate to give away money his kids could use.

The last time I got involved in a what is it mystery where it wasn't a flash hider or a muzzle brake, it turned out to be a blank firing adapter for an AR(n).

I couldn't tell from the images, but I thought I'd throw that out just in case.

Blank adaptors just provide some restriction of the outfowing gases at the muzzle to give enough back-oomph to operate the action. One oomph is equivalent to 2.7182 ft-lbs.

LYMAN POLAROID TUBE SIGHT

A tube sight is a peep sight set in a long tube with adjustable mounts. No glass lenses in yours, right? Name sounds like there ought to be a polarizing filter, though.
Asking price for a Unertl tube sight is over $300, the Lyman probably but certainly not a giveaway. Assuming you can find a buyer. This guy would pay wholesale, kind of like Pawn Stars.

Likewise the Stith mounts.

Thanks Jim. I'll take some more picks and contact the guy. Wholesale would be fine by me. It's not an easy job selling old gun stuff. Next up... the "Box of Holsters".

We have a winner on the SKS brake!
