What are we?

I personnaly prefer "responsible gun owner".

Collectively, gun owners in general are:
Cops...and robbers.
Hunters and nature lovers.
Target shooters.
Collecters.
Terrorists and anti-terrorists.
Homeowners, being responsible for their own security.
More that I didn't think of.

In short, almost everyone.
What a diverse lot!

:p

That is an interesting question, especially for those of us that do not live in gun-friendly parts of the country. When breaching the topic with someone whose politics I am not familiar with, if I choose to mention my affinity for guns and shooting, I will refer to my participation in "shooting sports", giving it that all-American Boy Scouts and Olympics flavor. Mostly though, I just don't talk about it unless someone else brings up the subject.

We are the largest minority group in the country. We make up about 25% of the population. We're a diverse minority with one common bond: we like things that go "bang," and for a variety of reasons. We become weak when we allow ourselves to not respect and defend the others' bang-sports.

I don't hunt, I only kill paper. But I support hunting.

I don't trap shoot, but enjoy watching others dust the clays.

I rarely shoot rapid-fire, but get a kick out of seeing the smiles on the faces of those who do.

I've never owned a black-powder gun, but I'm fascinated watching those who do shoot them. (And I love the smell).

I've never asked anyone why they needed "that gun," but have asked them how much it cost.

If everyone thought like me, the world would be a better place.
:neener:

Sometimes I describe myself to others as a "Family Protection/ Human Rights Activist" (it is all about the children). I express my opinion that, for me, I consider it immoral to have children and NOT have a gun in the house (my youngest of three is now 17.5 years old, and none of them ever got shot).

Those statements are sometimes the first words out of my mouth when someone asks about my interest in firearms. After that, their liberal-media fed brains are blown wide open, and I readily fill the void.

I then hit them with "if guns are banned, only criminals will have guns", "gun control is racist (compare gun laws with percent black/hispanic: e.g., DC)", etc. etc.

fun. Life is good.

Boltaction

PS yeah, I sometimes actually take them out to shoot!

I call myself a "responsible, peaceful adult." As a group, I think "we" are kinda hard to describe, but I'm going with Telewinz. "Shootests" is as good as anything else although it sounds a bit odd.
