It is a tough choice between my DSA FAL and my M1A. They are both great, but I have to go with the M1A. It is more accurate, easier to shoot off hand, and is a great rifle to shoot from the prone position.
Bushmaster makes the BAR-10 in 308 and it accepts FAL mags. Really slick. But it still has the gas system. It costs about $1600. I would think that a FAL would be a better option. Cheap mags and plenty of spare parts available.
Is there any truth to a range of serial numbers of Springfields to avoid. Some say avoid 0-20,000 and 120,000- to today. Would you get a standard or loaded Springfield m1a? Or another brand M1a all together?
