What diameter ball?

A friend of mine picked this little guy up but it doesn't show anything about diameter bullet to be fired.

Me being a reloader everything i know says lead should be sized larger than the caliber so he should use a 32cal round ball correct? We cannot find 31 cal round balls.

I found the owner’s manual online, and it says to use a .310 lead ball. Cabela’s advertises that gun and specs in the ad call for a .315 ball.

Midway lists both .310 and .315 Hornady lead balls online.

Instructions in the owners manual say to seat the ball on the powder. There is no mention of a patch.

Kinda like loading one chamber of a revolver.

You know, when all else fails....!

.310 should seat just fine, no patch needed.
Pack the ball right on top of the powder(I used 7 grains 3f with mine), and used a #10 Remington cap.
