early 80's Beretta model 70

.380 version. Got it from my brother. Really nice shape.

Well it was a stainless steel Christmas here in the Plinker household. :D

I got an early Christmas present in the form of permission from Mrs. Plinker to buy a nice find at the local gun show.

But then, my mother-in-law decided it was too much work to go shopping (a blessing in disguise!) and just handed me a check. Perusing the offerings at the local gunshop the very next day yielded this little bit of Teutonic temptation.

Both of these are as close as I will probably ever get to a "BBQ" gun, but they are certainly good enough for those rare occasions when I am strapped into a suit of some sort. They are classy enough for dispatching bad guys in the best of style.

Both are "older", as in not new, and both in exceptionally good condition. The Colt was built in 1986, an the Sig, while I do not have a build date yet, was made in West Germany, so that puts it in the late 80s at the latest.

Well, tourist season has passed, so the restaurant I work at is pretty empty, and the wife's hours at the hospital have been cut down to one day a week, so I couldn't afford to spend much of anything on myself.

But my three year old son had an awesome Christmas! He made out like a bandit! Besides, aren't Christmas presents more for the kids, anyway?

To keep it gun related, I did get a pair of 5.11 cargos. Tacticool black. (Where am I gonna wear these things?)

I was going to say not a thing, but then I remembered my son's girlfriend gave me a goft card for Dick's Sporting Goods, and my mom gave me a check for $250. So I am pretty certain both of those gifts will wind up being gun 'related'.;)

All the best,
Glenn B

Finally took a picture:

DPMS LR-308B, Burris Fulfield II 4.5-14x42, 600 rds of ammo, 5 extra 308 mags, a new cleaning kit, a few more AR 15 mags/magpul loops and a few gift cards(=9-13" harris bipod + more ammo).

Christmas was very, very merry for me this year.:)

I'm not sure how that old flashlight made it into the picture.

Guns for Christmas

Anyone get any new firearms for Christmas? I got a lump of coal shaped like a P99.

Santa brought me this ...

So I said "screw that" and bought myself a Mossberg 590A 12 ga pump . Should be here by new years! I'm sure that pisses my wife off to no end, so I'll probably get the same thing from Santa next year ;).

For Christmas, my father got a Remington SPR 220 12 ga SxS and my sister got a S&W 681-3 357 Mag.

Gun as a Chistmas gift ?!?!?

I like to give and receive guns as Christmas gifts, but some people just think I am strange. I bught my wife a Kimber stainless compact for Christmas this year and an Uzi carbine last year a Sig P226 the year before and a Taurus PT99 the year before that. Some of my friends think it is strange. My sister thought is was strange, but is used to it now.

My wife bought me a Sig GSR last year. My dad has given me some of his guns over the years. Those gifts mean a lot to me.

Do you have friends and family that don't understand?

I got a Beretta 92fs Inox for Christmas from myself and I bought a Beretta 8045f the day after.

I also bought my wife a Kimber stainless compact that she has been wanting.

I bought a Bushmaster AR-15 M4A3 for myself. I was pretty sure my wife wasn't going to buy one for me.

On a lighter note, I did get some camo pajamas, so if I have to bug out in the middle of the night I'm good. :)

No new guns on Christmas for me. My wife and I agreed that I could get a certain gun, but I am holding off until I have the money from available cash flow funds. Christmas was just fine.

I also enjoy it. I don't have a large budget, but the last two gifts to my brother were an SKS and a Mosin Nagant and ammo for each. He LOVED these gifts and I would rather spend the money on a piece of functioning historic weaponry than the trinkets you pick up at Walmart.

I also obviously like getting anything gun related and useful (ammo, cleaning agents, magazines, whatever), but most people drop the ball on this and still end up getting me nongun stuff.

I got two handguns, some smallbore rifle targets, a cleaning kit, and a scope lens cleaner for xmas. My family and friends know what its all about, haha. Likewise, I bought my friend a mosin nagant and my woman a galco CCW purse. I think those were all the gun-related gifts this year involving me giving or receiving.

This goes back to the whole thing of giving functional gifts that will be around FOREVER if taken care of and can be used for a lot of activities.

After returning home from a visit to Cabela's in Reno (170 miles from home) back in early November, I mentioned to my wife that I'd seen a 1950-production Marlin in .35 Remington that interested me.

That very rifle was under the tree on Christmas morning, along with the correct loading dies.

This is just the latest in a LONG string of wonderful guns from her, over the last forty years. Others included a Shiloh Sharps, my Ruger #1 in .416 Rigby, a 6" Combat Magnum, a grade three Browning .22 autoloader, and MANY others.

Fortunate, that's me.

Chirstmas

For Christmas I gave my two daughters Spring Field XD9’s since they carry and shot with me I wanted to give them some thing dependable.

I didn't get any guns for Christmas..B/f didnt want to take that big of chance yet. But then I have told him when he buys me a gun it is considered a wedding proposal.. i dont want a shiny ring i want a shiny revolver instead. And if I dont shoot him then the answer is yes. However my kids got very lucky..son got a M1 garand (springfield) and my girl got glenfield 22 thats semi automatic.. and all i got was new hunting camo and some socks... be glad when kids are working and can afford to treat me like i treat them!!!!
