What did you shoot today?

Nothing. Got to the club this morning and they were setting up for some crazy IDPA thing. I should start reading the newsletter or checking the calendar.
Been there and done that. My outdoor range is a little over an hour drive. Got there and discovered I drove there during the Super Shoot benchrest competition. So long as I was there checked out the vendors and shooters. I should read the newsletters too. :)

Took the two "new" Enfields to one of the outdoor range today to see how they shot at some distance. No. 4 Mk 2 rifle (left) and No. 5 Mk 1 carbine (right):

First five rounds apiece at 50 yds using battle sight to see where they're hitting for center POA as compared to the ballistics chart run for .303 Brit:

Rifle did pretty good - a little high and left, but decent group; carbine mostly just left, but spead out. Then out to 100 yds. Rifle did the same at that distance - a little more spread. The carbine only hit paper two out of five shots and I didn't get a good idea of where it was hitting. Tried with both battle sight and adjustable peep sight on lowest range with no luck. Some other shooters on the 100 yd range were waiting for me to retrieve targets, so I didn't stop to take pics of those. Will have to have another trial run with the carbine at 100 yds to see what's going on.

I was shooting cheap today. I was shooting my M1969 Romanian trainer. I was shooting .22lr that I have picked up the last few months that other shooters have dropped. 98% of them shoot fine, I only had two that wouldn't fire out of all that got shot today.
They are all over the place as far as accuracy but it's fun plinking for free.

My Czechpoint VZ-58.

Cute!

I was shooting cheap today.

Me too... Reloads except for the .22 LR.

After my afternoon nap , I decided to head up North to our "private " range at the deer camp. I needed to get some shootin' in.
Took my Mark IV, the Kimber Rapide in 45 ACP, the S&W .460 and the 2020 Python.
Oh, my 'pocket pal", the Micro Desert Eagle in .380. (Which i forgot to shoot!...need to practice more with that one as it is always with me).

Started off with the Mark IV.
Just did 40 rounds of Thunder duds....3 stove-pipes, good practice and will be glad when these are gone!

Up next was the Kimber Rapide.
I like this pistol as it has never failed me.:)
48 rouinds of 230 grain FMG pushed by 6 grains of CFE Pistol.

Okay...........
Going to shoot my S&W 460.
Been neglected for over a year.
Fired 15 rounds of a 240 grain XTP bullet propelled by 42 grains of Enforcer.
That was enough but brought my "old" confidence back on par.
Used to shoot a box in one sitting, I think those days are in the past.:(

Saved the beat for last!
My 2020 Colt Python!

30 rounds of my cast 158 grainers over a charge of 6 grains of Unique.
Sweet, especially after firing the 460. No noticeable recoil at all, lol!
Wanted to keep shooting the pleasurable Python but that will happen another day.;)

Here is a group picture on my portable 2002 model workbench.

If you are wondering about the 1 pound propane tank and the MAPP gas bottle, our transfer station won't take these for scrap metal unless there is a hole in it.
I made sure of that, even putting a face (I'd like to say on purpose but accidentally) on the base of the one pounder propane bottle. :D

I shoot up all of my 1lb Mapp & propane bottles too. No to scrap them because scrap steel prices are so low, I shoot them just for fun. They are great reaction targets because the spin & jump when hit. Old1lb reloading powder bottles are good too.

Hi...
Took my brand spanking new Pietta Great Western II in .45Colt out to the gun club yesterday. Perfect functioning with good accuracy with my handloads(8.0gr of Unique under a commercial cast coated LSWC).
Action is very smooth but the trigger is a bit heavy. I shot 20 rounds at about ten yards at a six inch shoot and see target. First five shots I held on the center of the bullseye. All five shots went low but were on line vertically. After that I held at the top of the target and all 15 shots were near the bullseye in an about 3" group. The lighting on that outdoor range is not very good...the roof over the shooting stations is very dark which makes it a bit difficult to see the front sight.
I will go to the other gun club I have a membership at to do some more shooting...the lighting conditions at that range are considerably better.

I also took along two .38Spl revolvers...a S&W Model 10 and a Uberti Richards-Mason open top conversion.
Shot twenty rounds through both at ten yards. Both shot to pint of aim...the brass front sight on the open top conversion is much easier to see, so it did better than the Model 10.
I also shot my S&W .45AutoRim at the same target range. Another twenty rounds with pretty good accuracy although once again the front sight was difficult to pick up, so my shooting was somewhat inconsistent. Good enough to keep all the shots in a six inch or so group...certainly nothing to brag about.
This was my first round of shooting this particular handload of 200gr SWC on paper...previously I had only shot it at steel plates at 7 and 15yds.
I normally shoot 230gr RN bullets in this revolver but I bought about 1000 SWC for very little money at an auction and I am going to shoot them.

375supermag, I have the exact twin to your Pietta GW II. Same load as yours and pretty much the same results. They are very good revolvers. That caliber goes along well with my Henry in .45 Colt. Also have a Uberti/Taylor's "Old Randall" in .45 Colt. Absolute joy to shoot. Liked your report.

My son-in-law is getting out of the Air Force in September and is 90% sure he wants a G19 Gen 5. So I let him shoot my G19 Gen 5 MOS, my Gen 5 G23, and my Sig P365. He also wants an AR, so had him shoot my Ruger AR556 and my PSA AR pistol.

My daughter hadn't shot a firearm since she was 14, so I had her shoot all of the same guns as her husband. She loved the G19, as did he, and she liked the AR pistol as well.

Didn't take nearly enough pictures as I was busy trying to supervise and coach.

Both shot very well and were able to form some educated opinions.

That’s mighty close for shooting steal with a rifle, even a 5.56, the speed is the issue, y’all be careful out there.
