What do have waiting for you in the reloading room?

I haven't made a round go off since July. Life has been busy lately. We just moved and I had the joy of moving:

3500 147gr 9mm JHP
5000 185gr .45 JHP
2000 158gr .38 RN
2000 185gr .45 SWC

And all the brass and primers to load all of that.

Ready to get it done, after I find everything in the boxes...so many boxes.

More .38Spl. I decapped and resized 100 Federals and milspec R-P on their umpteenth reload. Next is final tumble in walnut, then prime. I think these will be 142gr TCMJ standard pressure rounds.

We have family stuff this weekend, and traveling all week, then I get to hunt through notes and labeled boxes for loading data.

Gotta sort out the home-rolled cartridges the doc says I can no longer shoot. Time to inventory and tear down the 270, 30-06, 7.62x51, 7.62x54R, 45-70, 450 Bushmaster and 458 SOCOM reloads. I'm now under a PERMANENT ban on anything greater than .308 in rifle or greater than 9x19 in pistol. Luckily I can shoot full power 44Mag in the Marlin 1894, but not in the Blackhawk. Nieces & nephews are gonna have a good holiday this year! But I'll only send factory ammo. Reloads get torn down

Camera gear set up and bullet samples all over the place right now. I dismounted my press, I think I'll end up setting up on the outside table to load for 45-70. I've got a run of 500+ samples I'm working on though so I don't want to break down and set up for 100 rounds of ammo. If it works out, I might just leave the press mounted outside and cover it, take everything else out when I need it. Nice warm days... couldn't find a better way to enjoy some sunshine.

What's going on that your doctor restricted your calibers? And I gotta say it's kinda strange a doctor knowing enough about recoil to draw a line like that

Lower spine fusion; L3, L4 and L5 are all nicely bolted together. On the downside: After two surgeries, I've developed spinal cord cysts at the interface between normal (L2) and the top fused (L3) vertebrae. This could be from impulse loading of the spine after surgery, but could also be from a number of sources.

The surgeon is an avid hunter, rider, and has his own game ranch. He is not, however, a reloader. We have not discussed pistol caliber carbines such as 44M and 45C. Nor have we talked about Trailboss loads in 44M or 45-70.

Well it’s good to have a physician who understands the consequences of their advice on the patient’s quality of life.

Because life throws us curve balls, one may look at the smaller side of the spectrum to stay in the game. There seems a huge resurgence in the 32 calibers and things like the 22 hornet. I'm not a black powder guy but the recoil impulse may be easier on your body. I love 22lr but their not terribly interesting to me at least.

Last couple of years I've explored the smaller side with ARs in 224 Valkyrie, 6.5 Gendel and 243. And in the pistol arena, I have a small batch of 9s and 32. So I'm not totally without something to shoot. I guess this means my next project waiting for me in the reloading/ gun room will be a vz62 build rather than re-barreling my 270 and 7 mag Savages to PRC and Manbun.🙁

Been using Chuck Hawk's articles on recoil as a guide to what I can shoot, with an aim to keep recoil under 16 ft lbs or so. And the Bison Ballistics recoil calculator is helpful for evaluating hand loads.

Finishing prepping up .45 ACP & .45 Long Colt brass then I'll get busy ;) Picked up the SPP on a trip to my local Sportsman's Warehouse...

Time for another pumpkin shoot. After Thanksgiving the families out here get together and pile up the leftover pumpkins for a shoot the next morning the wild pigs clean up the mess - and end up as sausage for the homeless shelters Christmas dinner. 😁
I have 125gr Remington Golden Sabers, 110gr Winchester Kinetics, Speer 110gr Gold Dots, and Federal 105gr Guard Dogs. I have W231, W244, Red Dot, and Accurate No.’s 2 and 5 for powders. (have more than that but not for punching pumpkins ;)
Now I just need the time to load four different bullets for four different barrel lengths using a variety of powders and mixed brass. ⏳Before Saturday

Walked down there and took inventory. I’ve got enough metallic rifle and handgun stuff loaded to keep me shooting fora long time. I’m almost done with next year’s trap loads.
The only thing I need to do is reload one box of my (last week) proven 44 mag deer loads from 2004 that got me a one shot 80 yard kill on Friday. (Only have eight or nine left and there’s three season remaining this year. That, and developing a deer load for my 45-70 Handi rifle.

Sounds like a blast. No pun intended.

After the pistol session this morning, and and hour plus of three guys cleaning up a big mess of brass, hoooooray…

Some 10mm. Bought my first 10mm that I can pick up Sunday (new 3 day wait). Components are on sale at Scheels, so I picked up some Starline brass and Berry’s 180gr FP. Ordered LPP online, but hoping to find a few hundred locally to get me started this weekend. I placed an online store pick up order for a few sleeves at Cabelas since I have to head down that way anyways, but they just cancelled my order!
