What do you keep on the nightstand?

Right now I keep a G19 or G23 in the night stand. When my little buddy starts toddling around that will change to a shotgun of some variety in the top of my bedroom closet... Maybe a 590 or Nova.

Colt .45 Rail Gun plus Surefire x300 with special purpose reduced velocity low flash ammo. The gun itself is a monstrosity that can be used as sledgehammer ie deadly even when unloaded.

A Gen 4 Glock 22 on the bedside, and my Sig P230 hanging on the bedpost beside me in it's ankle holster. An old ratty looking Mossberg 12 Gauge behind the headboard propped against the wall. We don't have children in the house. If I leave the house, I will put them in the safe, but I'm usually toting those two handguns at work.

What Do You Sleep With?

Same gun I carry which rest on my nightstand:

We have also always had two dogs, at one poing three dogs. They trigger on anything outside long before it gets inside. The kids are long grown and gone with kids of their own. All remaining guns are secured in the gun safe.

I keep an HK45 in a drawer next to my bed unchambered. On top of the table is a Streamlight flashlight. On the gun is a CT Railmaster Laser, but I find the longer I shoot, the less I like the notion of a laser on my gun. It just seems a distraction. I'm thinking about just going with a weapon mounted light, but who knows.

Last night it was one of my S&W 500's. I just happened to be messing around with it as we were grilling and it never made its way down to the safe. Normally my Glock 23 is in my nightstand and my wife's Colt Gold Cup Match is in her nightstand. I think she just switched it out for a Dan Wesson .357 a few days ago but I don't remember. Most importantly I have a Harley curled up at my feet. Harley is my German Shepherd and she can be scarier than any firearm I've ever encountered!

Depends. I have three to choose from. Ruger SP101 3" 38/357 , Sig P239 9mm or Sig P226 9mm. I live alone...no kids in the apartment.

HK USP 9, 15+1 onboard, 2x15 on the side and a Led Lenser X7R, rechargeable, with 500 lumen and a strobe defence function
firearm in a hidden compartiment of bedside furniture at arms lenght

Now for a different question: my kids ( 17, 18 and 20) are all trained shooters and bether shots then I am: would you arm them to?

more defence options but also a crossfire risk.

Condition 1 FNX-45 (16 rounds) sporting a TLR-4 laser/light combo on the nightstand.

Mossberg 590A1 and Colt 6920 w/Surefire Scout lights available in the closet.

Sig P220 DAK 45 auto with Lasergrips on my bedside table and a Mossberg 500 with OOO buck in the closet.

There's a Savage 17 HMR by the kitchen door, but that's mostly for garden defense. I've actually had to use that one.

Stainless Kimber 1911 loaded with Federal HST on the shelf next to the bed, 20ga Rossi coach gun in the closet with no 4 buck.

I have a limited budget (i.e. can't afford those fancy quick access "safes"), and 3 kids under the age of 12 in the house, so the only "weapon" on the night stand is my phone. My first line of defense is the machete on the top shelf of the closet about 4 feet from my side of the bed that I bought as a souvenir when I spent some time in Guatemala (I was a young, dumb city kid and didn't realize you could buy them here). But, that machete is just intended to help me hold the corner of the hallway before the bedrooms while my wife calls 911, gets the kids back to our room and gets the guns out.

Well, my wife can be quite the pistol, but that's probably not what you mean

BHP in a gun vault hard mounted to a heave metal framed night stand.
3D mag light in a clip on the side of the stand.
LED tactical light on night stand next to my glasses.
A fire extinguisher mounted to the other side of the stand.
Land line (underground cable to house) and cell phone on the night stand.
A pair of night vision goggles my dad won as a door prize and gave me.

I call this my tactical night stand :neener:

(The night vision goggles are especially handy when the raccoons come around pestering the bunnies in their outdoor hutch.)

"A 1911 in the closet on the top shelf. A curios two year old makes a gun in the nightstand a an unsafe choice for me."

Don't count on that "top shelf" doing the job much longer.
I'll bet you can figure out how I know.

This 38 special resides on me or next to me wherever I go. It isn't the most powerful handgun nor the sexiest however it is very reliable and so am I.
