What do you keep on the nightstand?

I just rotated again. Dan Wesson .38 Super probably for the rest of the summer. Then maybe I break out one of the cowboy guns...maybe the 44 mag Super Blackhawk....we will see!

As much as I love my VBob in .45, a Guardian in .38 super would be so awesome to have.

Gonna be a few years before I can convince the wife that I need yet another 1911.

1) blonde-haired, blue-eyed southern goddess

2) Large blue/white shorthair cat that's about the size of a small mountain lion

3) Cz-82 cruiser ready (with nightsights) and a streamlight Protac

4) mossy 500 leaned behind the door

OP, You make a point that I had not even thought about until just now.. And it is so simple. I always keep my pistol in the 4th drawer down of my dresser so that I can reach over from my bed pull the drawer open and retrieve the gun. But at night why not just leave it in plain sight and omit the intermediate step?

Another thing I don't get.....

I just rotated again....why? This is just a tool....a tool you need to know inside and out, front to back....and really in your sleep. Someone explain that to me. I don't "switch out" my claw hammer because I want a change....that same old hammer works just like I want it to work...I can use it with my eyes closed. Do you think you are going to hurt the items feeling leaving it in a cold dark safe? Or is it just to say something "cool" on a gun forum.

Glock 19 Gen 4 with Trijicon HD night sights and a Streamlight TLR-1. Loaded with one in the pipe, 124gr Federal HST. Sits on my nightstand in a case capable of being opened with 1 hand.

I'd prefer a 12ga, but my place is small and I need something that can be used quickly with one hand. My G19 has +3,000 rounds through it without any malfunctions, I shoot it well, and I like the 15 cartridge capacity. I also keep a spare mag close and a Ruger LCP 2 in the room as a backup.

I prefer to live by my gunsmith's philosophy of home protection:
Q: "What would happen if someone broke into your house?"
A: "Hail of bullets"

EDC - G26 and Surefire flashlite
or
G-19 / G-30 with weapon lite attached

All pistols have Big Dot night sites - older eyes.... :(

on the wifes side is her 870 with Surefire weapon light integral to the forearm/grip

I live in the United States so my nightstand includes: glass of water, alarm clock, lamp and tissues. Many times I actually forget to close my front door. Shocking isn't it?

I still close the door...left over habit from when the kid was still home....you have to have some mommy and daddy time ;)

Glock 26 on the nightstand(my EDC gun), FAL under the bed.

FAL being the main go-to gun if I have time to pick and choose. I blame reading Boston. T. Parties novel 'Molon Labe!' for this.

Wife has a Bersa Thunder .22.

I can only answer for me, but the nightstand gun is either a bigger version of my carry gun (Glock, 1911, Sig, etc) or my carry gun itself.

Whatever I am carrying is what I shoot weekly, nearly exclusively. So when I decide to change my carry gun for whatever reason, the nightstand gun changes too.

Logical reason.

20170614_153237.jpg Kept in a pistol safe on the nightstand with a VP9 for the wife. 2 teenagers and a 2nd grader in the house so there are no guns that aren't locked up.

Walther Creed 9mm with a Rogers Rail lite next to bed, a S&W BodyGaurd 380 under the pillow. A flashlight, couple knives on the nightstand.

I most likely posted here b/4? But too tired to search! But the comments on the gun of the week? Change the EDC? Sometimes this, sometimes that! Amaze me. I carry a Gen4 Glock 19, always, so at night? Same pistol on the night stand. It shoots to point of aim, point of impact, TruGlo night sights.
Small capacity hand guns? Why? 16 rounds ready, only shoot 3? So you have 13 left, OK? they don't need feeding, those 13 just sit. I have a bunch of different guns in the safe, but the EDC is always the same.

The Glock 19, 4th Gen, feels like part of me.

On my nightstand: alarm clock and lamp. Inside my nightstand: SIG P229R in 9mm. with night sights, a SIG STL-900L laser/light module, and a spare magazine.

Glock 21 with night sights and next to the bed a Mossy 500 with low recoil buckshot for the first four rounds then a slug at the end of the line.

375 Lumen strobing Streamlight

Glock 22 (because the G22 was my duty gun for 25 out of 27 years) in a Galco shoulder holster hanging from the headboard with a pair of spares so I can shrug into it when wearing my oh-so-sexy boxer briefs.

Right under my side of the bed...POF SBR AR15 and a Remington 1100 Tactical with Sidesaddle

Under my wife's side of the bed...her Benelli and her Glock 19 is in a holster that mounts on the side of the bed between the box spring and mattress.

My 13 year old daughter has her own Glock 19 with light attached in her room in a rapid access safe (Yes, she does. Yes, I am comfortable with it. No, I am not interested in your opinion on the subject. She is a B Class USPSA shooter and Marksman in IDPA. She has been to TRO. She is a better shooter than you are. I trust her more than 99% of alleged adults I know).

All the interior doors in our house are solid core hardwood (the house was built in the 50s when they actually built with care and quality), if the alarm goes off, she tosses her deadbolt and gets the Glock, gets in the bathtub in her bathroom and waits for me or mom to knock and say the safe word. Her bedroom is next to ours, and our 95lb Olde English Bulldogge sleeps in her room 99% of the time.

Crossbreed Bedside Backup with Glock 40 10mm.

Fashlight and tactical earmuffs on nightstand (if I have time, take 1 second to flip the earmuffs on and turn the battery on)

3 feet away (and priority) Mossberg 590 A1 with light, chambered with safety on, loaded with 24 pellet #1 buck.
