I have a Glock 22 .40cal. I have only shot two clips through it and it seems ok. Since I have applied for my carry permit I would like to buy another gun to keep bedside. I have posted a few threads asking what .40 autoloader is the best. The responses were HK, SIG, Glock, and Kimber. When I ask which is the most reliable almost all say Glock. What is the downside to Glock?

Thanks.

I don't like the trigger on Glocks too much. I have owned a G17, G19 and G26 in the past. No matter how much I practice, I always shot low and to the left - ONLY on these guns.

I have a Glock 34 - it is the only Glock I do not have this issue with - I suppose because the trigger is lighter.

But, I dumped my Glock 26 and got a Walther P99 compact - I like it much better. More accurate for me and easier to shoot accurately.

Now, I like my G34, but its the only Glock I will own.

Glocks are great if you can shoot them well. I can't they just don't fit me right. I hate the trigger pull. Now that I've put the 3.5lb connectors in I can at least have some fun (missing is not fun!) shooting my Glocks (17 & 21), but I question if they are safe to carry after this modification.

The grip.

In one of Ayoobs books he talks about how bad "certain" guns are when he has shot at weekend training camps where thousands of rounds are being shot in a few days.

I really like that Glock, but I realized what he ment after I shot a few hundred rounds.

For me, the Glock 17 I handled the other day when shopping was VERY uncomfortable in my hand. Too much angle. It also felt like a toy. Just didn't get a good vibe from it. The XD9 on the other hand:D

too wide

grip angle

tried out a 9mm M&P the other day. Sweeeet trigger. Right grip angle. Hopefully it won't be S[t]igmatized by other polymer S&W's.

I like the Glocks in 9mm. I feel they are to snappy in .40 though. I much prefer the HK P2000 and HK P2000sk in .40 due to HKs recoil reduction system. It feels like shooting a 9mm.

The only problem that I have with Glocks is I dislike the aesthetics of the older glocks. I like the finger grooves and rails.

If your looking for a .40 try an HK.

The one thing that took a while to get use to are the finger grooves...other than that, I've really learned to appreciate the simplicity and reliability of these pistols.

My only real complaint with the Glock is that I find them, across the board, to be fairly uncomfortable to shoot. If they were more comfortable to me, I would consider owning one. Plus, it irks me that Glock hasn't made a .22 yet, but that's just my own wierd little thing...

The factory sights don't belong on a toy let alone a gun as good as the Glock is. The plastic grip is slippery. Other than that I can't find much to complain about.

.40 Polymer Pistol

I have both a Glock 23 and a Sig Pro2340 as well as a Berretta Px4 Storm. The Berretta is fun to shoot, mine is in 9mm but a friends is in .40 and it shoots almost identically. I like Glocks, respect the durability and he concealability issue. But for just plain fun shooting, as well as comfortable I love my Sig.

It doesn't have to be a Glock or HK to be plastic! Every handgun manufacturer has one now. EVERYONE.

GLOCK
HK
SIG
Berretta
Kimber
S&W
I hear Sprinfield does as well.

So yeah, go rent a bunch and find one you like! Enjoy shooting all that! Should be a good time!

The main gripe is not enough beavertail to keep the slide from cutting my hand with my normal high grip. I know this isn't a problem for many, but I can't put very many shots through a glock without drawing blood.

The next biggest is the hump on the back of the grip; lose that and the grip angle would be much improved. I've handled a glock where the grip had been reduced and re-shaped similar to that of a 1911 with a flat MSH; nice! It's easy to add a beavertail to the frame while reshaping the grip.

A steel slide deserves steel sights, not plastic.

I love Glocks but I am not crazy about the standard sights. That is the only thing I like to replace.

Two things: the grip angle and everyone and his brother own one. Why not be different? There are other fine firearm makers to pick.

Fine pistol that I have seen. Like may others out there.
The cult that has risen around Glocks and other pistols can be a bit overwhelming, sometimes borders on the evangelical.
