Which is the better gun? I have a Glock G23, I might be able to trade it for a HK USP compact .40. It looks like a good gun, I do not know anyone with a HK. Most of my friends have Glocks, thats how I fell in love with them. Is the HK in the same boat as Glock? Are we talking apples with apples or what, the Glock seems to be more simple, and I have never had any problems with a Glock, Thanks for your help.

If there are no problems with your gun and you like it why trade it for a gun you know nothing about?

You already have an excellent pistol, so I would trade only if you must have a manual safety or have decided you don't like the Glock's trigger bar safety. Keep in mind that you also give up at least one round if you switch to the H&K, and possibly more if you use +2 baseplates, Glock 22 mags, or both.

I carry a Glock 22 as my primary self-defense pistol, and a USP .40 Compact as my warm weather/deep concealment pistol. I only prefer the USP over the Glock 23 because of Jack Bauer.

Like othes have said, both are great pistols - so really its a toss up
as too which one YOU prefer~?:uhoh: I sell both, and while Glock
sales far surpass the H&K's; I think its a money constraint thing, as
H&K's are generally much more expensive than the Glock's. If
nothing is wrong with the Glock, I don't think I would make the
trade; unless perhaps you just want too learn H&K's firing system?:D

Find out what trigger variation is on the USPc - you might not like it compared to the Glock's. Also try the grip - if you like Glocks, you probably won't like HKs as the angle and feel is very different. (I prefer HKs).

If you can trade outright - you would be getting a "more valuable" pistol all else being equal condition-wise. HK is definetly in the same league as the Glock, and does some things better.

HK for me

Personally I don't really care what the superduper black tactical ops use or what jack bauer use, nor do I care what sam gerard use. I want to use a gun that works reliably when I use it.

But if you have to ask which is a better gun betwen a glock and hk, I suggest you get whatever the cheaper one.

Hmmm there are some new issues here....

Nobody had yet mentioned any fictional or real tacticool characters who own these guns. Certainly not as a valid comparator.

He already HAS the Glock, and is being offered the HK in trade - so "cheaper" is irrelevant - except the HK owner is obviously willing to accept greater depreciation.

The implication that Glocks are not reliable flies in the face of all the evidence - even Glock haters generally concede that they are reliable pistols. That's usually ALL they concede of course :neener:

That said I'd be tempted to try out the HK myself and see if I liked it - a lot would depend on the variant and the trigger. Personally I enjoy Glocks for their simplicity, consistent and repeatable operation (no crunchentickers for me thanks) etc, but that's just me. HK have an excellent reputation and new they cost more, so worth checking it out if nothing else.

Of course if this is a sight unseen, swap now with no trial and no re-swap if unhappy then run away - better the one you know and are happy with for sure.

If you're "in love" with your G23 as you claim, then why get rid of it? HK makes a fine weapon. I've never shot one, but I know they have a great reputation. However, if you trade away a gun that you love then you'll regret it (even if you like the HK).

If you just want an HK, my suggestion would be to save up your money and buy one. However, before you do that I'd recommend borrowing or renting one and shooting it. As someone else noted, if you like and are accustomed to the Glock grip angle and trigger then you may not like the HK.

Glock or H&K: It's a toss-up

I have Glocks and I have an H&K USP45 full size - IMO, they are about equal as far as reliability, shootability, accuracy, durability, etc. The H&K USP45 full size is not a small pistol - it is about the size of a Glock 21 or a Colt Combat Commander 1911, although it is wider (thicker) than the Colt.

The one thing I hate about the H&K is this: The magazines are Godawfully expensive - $50-55 each, as compared to $25 for Glock magazines. All of the H&K autopistol magazines are plagued by hideously high prices; it seems like $50-55 is their standard magazine price, regardless of which pistol you are buying for.

The H&K auto is a totally different animal from the Glock; they are DA/SA with a decocker and thumb safety, which means you can carry the H&K in condition one (cocked and locked) like a 1911, if you want to, or carry it as a DA auto. One not so good "feature" of the H&K system is the DA trigger pull is HEAVY and long, although this may help to prevent accidental discharges when operating the pistol in DA mode.

Which is "better?" IMO, one is not really a better gun than the other, they are just different. As far as a full size autopistol, you can't go wrong with either.

HK, all the way!!!

You can shoot .45 Supers in a stock HK .45,
I wouldn't dare try that in a stock Glock.
