What do you shoot "best"?

I don't own handguns (can't legally here), but I rent them frequently. Out of the eight or so models I've used, I found that I was most accurate by far with a Kimber 1911 .45 and a Ruger Mark II Gov. Target .22LR.

Believe it or not, I pickked up a 4" Fixed sighted.357 for cheap about 1980. I pulled off some fantastic shots that even amazed Me. It was built at a low point in DW's quality and the bluing was 1/2 blue and 1/2RED. Traded it off and I have regreted it since.....Essex

.22 lr: S&W mdl 41 w/ a 5-1/2" barrel.
.45 acp: Colt Gold Cup, NM w/5" barrel.

These are my absolute favorite handguns and calibers and most accurate!

I shoot my tightest groups with my Ruger P89. It's so easy to do, it's not even a challenge to do it! I enjoy shooting my model 10 best. It's more of a challenge shooting DA with a good revolver and staying on the mark. And it doesn't eat up ammo as fast.

I use to bring alot of guns to the range...use to think I was having fun too. Then I got a little more serious in what I was doing. Then, I'd bring only 1, maybe 2 guns (the other being a 22 revolver). I learned that I can shoot my guns the fastest if I have mastered the trigger & sight alignment.
I shoot my USP 45 the fasted & the most accurately...the rest are close behind but that one is my most accurate pistol period.

I finally made it to the range today and compared the following handguns from low ready, firing as fast as I could aquire the target. comparison was considering both speed and accuracy. [priority on accuracy] The topgun was the Kimber Classic Goldmatch, tie between a S&W 4566 and Colt Mark IV series 70, The revolvers, S&W 4" 629 and S&W 4" model 64 and Dan Wesson 6" 15V. [The Dan Wesson was the fastest and most accurate with rapid fire] I didn't have the time to include the Glocks or CZ this time. Observations: the semi autos were the most accurate today for me, being fired as fast as the target was acquired, on the revolvers, I pulled the shots , probably because of improper squeeze or grip. I need practice. The 44 mag loads were 240 grain LSWC reduced to 900 fps or a little over, the 38 special was full power 140 grain, the 357 mag was full power 125 HP . Note: The S&W 4" 629 is a pleasure to shoot with 7.5 grains of sr4756 behind a Speer lswc 240 grain, which is a little more energy than the best +P 45 ACP. What a versitile revolver!

FEG Hi-Power Clone 9mm

Based on repeated attempts to use a 1911A1 or Commander in IDPA... I flat out shoot the 9mm better, though I hate to admit it.

My older 1919 vintage pre A1 Colt is making headway though.

Depends

For IDPA or IPSC it's the 1911 for me. I can shoot slightly more accurate with my Sig 220 but I shoot the 1911 amost as accurate but faster. I can go weeks without even picking up the 220 and shoot it better than anyhting else.

I seem to shoot my best scores using my Springfield Armory TRP. The gun just feels right.

Tie between my USP 45 and my USP 9. I have others that come close, but sometimes require a little trigger time just to get re-acquainted w/ the sights :D

No Contest

My SW1911 .45ACP. Speed. Accuracy.

I had to find a way to make it my primary ccw after I found out how well I shot it in comparison to my other ccws.

Hmmmmmmmmm....
The guns I've shot the best?

1. Glock 19. The ergos stink, but this thing spits out +p+ ammo like its firing bb's and hits where I'm pointing like a laser. Can't explain it, it just works for me.

2. S&W 64 w/4" barrel. I can't shoot a revolver better than this one. Had similar experience with other K-frames. This one shot all loads at point of aim, from 110gr +p, to 148gr WC's to 158gr +P LSWCHP "FBI loads".

3. S&W 1911 Mil-Spec. I'd never shot a 1911 before. A buddy handed his to me with a full magazine, and I fired off several rapid shots. Almost all the holes touched at 25 yards, and I'm lucky just to hit the target at that distance. I realized in a hurry why so many folks love this platform. Its inherently accurate and easy to shoot well.

4. Taurus 85. This was a 15 oz all titanium model. It kicked like a mule, and my hand hurt alot from shooting it. But I shot this model better than any snubbie I've ever owned or shot (well, except for a S&W 64 snubbie, but it weighed 2 pounds or so), and I've shot alot of them. I probably should have kept this thing, since I have not found one I can shoot nearly as well. It shot all loads to point of aim, and I could keep all loads in a 2" shoot n' see at 7 yards in off-hand rapid fire. Which I know is like saying "I can tie my shoes all by myself", but I've never shot snubbies well.

I have also enjoyed and shot well with a SIG p220 and a Ruger Redhawk in .44 magnum, as well as a Bulgarian Makarov and a SIG p230. But I shot the top four noticably better than anything else.

Typically, I shoot my 1911's pretty good, with my RIA usually being the best. Some days I can kick some pretty good butt with my Glock G26......My wife's 5903 shoots really well, too......some days, and the right load, I can punch some really good holes with my Python and/or my Anaconda......sometimes it just depend son my mood and how things are or aren't clicking that day.

On a good day, I can shoot most anything passably well. On a bad day, I'd better be holding a 5" 1911 or I'm in trouble.

best accuracy 1) Nighthawk Talon II
2) CZ 85combat
3) Kimber Custom II

best speed 1) Ruger Vaquaro .357
2) CZ 85combat
3) Nighthawk Talon II

Close comparison between my 4" S&W 586 and my SIG P228, but when practicing rapid fire the SIG usually has a bit of an edge.

However, I am actually more accurate with both the 586 and a 2.25" Ruger SP101 firing DA than SA, and I often find that decocking the SIG and firing all shots DA does not significantly decrease my accuracy.

I shoot all my guns pretty much the same (except for a Walther P22, which gives me terrible accuracy). I've been practicing at 15yards exclusively the last few range sessions and get about 2" 5-shot groups when I concentrate and 4" 5-shot groups very easily in rapid fire (< 1 sec per shot).

The guns I normally shoot are HK P2000, Sig P226, Glock 19, S&W 1911, Beretta 96 in 9mm, 40s&w, and 45acp.

I don't count the P22 because it is such a POS. I also didn't count the Kahr because I used to shoot it really well but haven't practiced w/ it for a long time and the last trip was kind of disappointing :(

most accurate

Of the 20 or so handguns I own easily the most accurate is my Colt Gold Cup with my 185jhp handloads.

A not too distant 2nd would be my 4" Magnaported S&W mod. 19

Except for my High Standard 22 Supermatic I am the best with myP89. I probably am the worst with the SA Ultra Compact, but good enough to get by. I guess I'll have take all of my pistol's out & do a little test for myself. Should be fun!

My T/C Conteder 14" .223 is by far my best shooting handgun with easy sub MOA potental. But then it's single shot. For a repeating handgun my S&W K38 Target Masterpiece shoots better than any other gun I have ever owned. For me accuracy outweighs speed tenfold. A slow hit is better than 6 fast misses.
