What do you think of my Congress woman's reply.

"Common Sense" from a politician? It's neither common, nor does it usually make sense. Watch her closely......

Google results show her in a photograph with Michelle Obama and Oprah. That's enough evidence to convict in my book.

I'm surprised ANY Democrat got elected in this state.

Even Obama carried this district, the majority of this district is African American and they tend to vote Democrat no matter what. It's not uncommon in this County to have no local Republican candidates on the ballot, matter of fact it's pretty normal. You run Dem or you loose, it's that simple.

This is Artur Davis old district, he never was my favorite guy, but I hated to see him go because I figured whoever we got would be far worse.

Anyway, back to the original subject. It seems most of you thought about what I did about her response. She did cosponsor the bill so I'm not throwing her out yet, but I will be watching her very closely, I've got a bad feeling though.

The letter sure sounds like she's sitting on the fence!

I would support her until a better 2a congress person comes along. Better than bad, but it sure sounds like if the wind were blowing the other way, she would be too.

Just echoing what others have said. When ever I read a democratic evoking "common sense" I hide my wallet and guns. Plus the critters seem to vote for the party and not their constituents so the D by their name matters.

If you want to know what a politician is going to do, I think the worst way to find out is to ask them. Their mouths and hands are often in different places.

No matter what her mouth says, look to the past and see what her hands have done.

We have a State org that montors the position of members of congress and oganizes meetings at their office to keep the pressure on.

bottom line is that politicians say whatever they think they need to say to get reelected....reelection is the singular concern of all of these people. every time they utter a syllable the sum total of human knowledge is reduced.

Exactly.
Anyone here remember the president who promised to sign an extension of the AWB if congress passed it?

Sewell did not vote for that bill because she believes in concealed carry. She is confident the bill will be vetoed if it reaches the desk of POTUS. Politicians often use this tactic to pander to and confuse their constituents while toeing the party line.

Any time a politician uses the term "common sense" you are wasting your time trying to communicate with them.

Honestly, I'm in favor of ALL laws being based on common sense. When they single out gun laws for that special consideration it always raises a flag with me.

Politicians make gambles like this all of the time, pandering to constituents who don't know better. Just listen to all of the politicians who say they will overturn Roe v. Wade.

It's not hard to imagine Gingrich pulling a flip-flop like this one, given his response to the gun ownership question.
