What do you want for Christmas?

Well, I always asked Santa for things I rarely got! But I would really like to see a Kimber K65 DASA 3" 357 Magnum under our CHRISTmas tree. I have 2" and 4" 357s and 2", 3" and 4" 38s and for these two cartridges 3" is just the right barrel length...

But as far as I'm concerned CHRISTmas is about my wife. I have been married too many times and I learned I really like giving for CHRISTmas. My wife usually gets diamonds from me (don't have to be huge, but nice size). I learned flowers for no reason, diamonds for any special gifts keep wives happy...

I got my kids to stop asking what I want for Christmas about 10 years ago. I do ask them to go and visit their Grandmother, who is in her 90s (and a strong 2A supporter).

Purely a "that would be nice, but not necessary", for sub-$200? Easy. I would like a Lee turret press. I like loading .30 cal rifle on a single stage, but would like something quicker for .223 and .40 S&W plinking ammo. I can't justify the cost for the amount that I load and shoot of those two, even with the wife and oldest son using the same, but if Santa is listening... :D

FWIW, a Lee turret works quite well on 30 cal rifle cartridges, at least on mine. I reloaded a lot of 30-06, 7.62x51/308, 7.62x54r and 303 British. I removed the auto-index thingy 4 days after I got mine and hand indexed for over 20 years, worked much better for my batch reloading and accuracy was on par with any press I've owned. And I didn't want a semi-progressive press...

Every new reloader that asks me, gets the same advice: for the money, get the turret, remove the index rod, and learn. Once you have it down, replace the rod. Single stage might be able to produce more accurate ammo than a turret, but, when you go with Little Red, much as I like it, I doubt that gain will be noticeable. I wasn't sure if I would stick with it, so I saved $50 and got the single stage. The next 3 people who asked, all went with a turret, and are happy. If I was only loading the .30s, I wouldn't notice, but dang those little cases get tedious...

I was in hospital for a month. Still on O2, but recovering, SLOWLY.
Wife has stroke in Thanksgiving Day, got out of hospital on Thursday ( yes, 2 days ago )
Kids and grandkids have been been informed not to expect anything or get us anything. Christmas will be a time of feasting, celebrating family, playing games and being together. Prayers for health and happiness.
Getting prepared for the arrival of our first GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER in Jan, to start the New Year on a positive.

Bless you call, for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

IF Santa left me a RCBS ChargeMaster under the tree, I would be ecstatic, though.

Bless you and your wife, our prayers will be for your family this Christmas. My experience was dramatic this year, acute reaction to infusion resulted in cardiac arrest for my 70th birthday. I have 90% recovered and realized my priorities needed to change. Grandchildren and Christmas are more important now than I am. Merry Christmas to all. I used to be a humbug type of guy my wife called her "grinch". No more.

Sometimes a little "kick" can get your priorities on track and in plain sight.

Great to hear of your recovery.

I don't believe many will be upset to see 2021 come to come to an end.

I'd like to have 2 days added to every weekend. One for more time to reload and shoot, one for everything else I never seem to get done on weekends.

Sub-$200? A modestly priced chronograph to replace my 20+year old Oehler.

Sometimes we all need to stop, look around us, then count our blessings, especially after all the terrible tornadoes swept through. Lots of Veterans are homeless and alone, and lots of storm victims have NOTHING left but each other. We have no promise of another heartbeat, much less tomorrow. I thank God every day for the day, and my wonderful family and friends, and His many blessings.

Have a blessed day,

Leon
