IMO a gun snob is not one that simply prefers more expensive firearms, a true gun snob is one that literally looks down on other people that do not possess the financial means to own these expensive firearms. They have the air about them that if you don't shoot really expensive firearms, you are beneath them.

I am always looking for what I think are high value firearms. A high value firearm is usually one that is moderately priced but delivers really good quality, excellent reliability, and are of a fair price. I know fair price is completely subjective. I like Ruger and Glock, but I do own a few EAA firearms as I believe they deliver the goods.

What are your opinions on gun snobs?

I usually associate that term with people who make it plain to everyone that their of choice of gun or accessory is, as a fact and not opinion, the best, and if you were as smart as they are you'd know it too. Too many gun store clerks fit this profile. Sometimes the snob's attitude is based on the price of his/her gun, but not always.

I like that post BSA1.

An entire thread whose premise is to bash other hypothetical or nondescript gun owners is kind of doomed to failure.

I don't think I've ever used gun snob in that context. Usually, I go with fanbois.

I've joked about being a gun snob, as well as being a fanboi, but I consider being a gun snob as just being snobby about what someone would and would not own. I consider gun snobbyness to be more along the lines of unreasonable dislike of something that makes no real sense. For example, one of my own moments of gun snobbyness is S&W semi auto's. I have nothing against them, really, and I understand the M&P line is supposed to be great. I just won't touch them because for some reason I want the S&W logo on a wheel gun and I think it's weird on a semi auto. To me, that is being a snob.

I think you need to get away from the computer and go do some shooting.
I went shooting just this last Sunday.

I took the following:

SAR K2 45
Glock 41
Sig Sauer SP2022
Para Ordnance GI Expert Stainless

When was the last time YOU went shooting and got out from behind the computer?

Who cares as long as you can outshoot them?

Owning a high end camera doesn't make you Ansel Adams.

We have all had moments of 'my stuff is better than your stuff' Even me. You get older and wiser you worry less about what others think. If your stuff works for you, then great.

That said, Hi-Point won't ever be a Colt, but if you have the sand to run one in a match, hats off to you.

I am a big proponent of finding good reliable gear for the citizen on a budget.
