Getting the bug to order a milsurp or 2. And I think I'd also like to pick up a Saiga sometime. I called around today and it seems average is about 50$.

The second guy I called wanted to charge me more for the transfer on the Saiga....he also said he would only transfer one for me...ever..I think it's because I live close to the border and reselling guns across the border is a real issue.

What's average? There are still 2 places I can call. I'm only gonna be saving 25 or so dollars ordering vs buying in the shop where I can handle the gun before I buy it...and I know that's the point. Just frustrating.

Last one was free, because he could not get the time to do the transfer for two days.

Before that one it was $20, no matter how many guns you did at one time.

Got a new guy what will charge $15 for my next ones. (Houston area)

Check out these sites to find one cheaper near you.

I am sure you can do better on line than that. Buying out of state saves you sales tax in many cases.

Have you tried finding you guns at:

he also said he would only transfer one for me...ever.

That is total BS, I would not do business with him for that point alone.

If your ordering a NIB saiga you shouldnt worry about inspecting it too much. surplus rifles on the other hand, read aloooot of reviews on different websites and choose one that has alot of positive feedback.

The local Bluewater bait shop does transfers, I just called them about a few AR stripped lowers I'm thinking about getting and they said it was gonna be $20 total. This is in Bemidji, MN though.

$15 per gun which is a steal around here as others charge 30 and up(one guy was 60 per gun ).

I have to drive about 30-40 min to get there even though I have a gun shop within walking distance but they aren't getting my money after this happened recently.

Me: I want a ATI 92c and a PF9

gun shop: We cant get the ATI and we are backordered on the PF9

Me: No prob I can wait on the PF9 how much?

gun shop: 379.99(wont negotiate)

So they cant get both guns that are in stock at CDNN and the one they can get they are charging $150 more than CDNN. Now they want to charge me 40 per gun to transfer... I explain this to him but I was already wasting my breath... see ya

I haven't paid more than $25 for a transfer ever. When I buy a gun in a private sale, or from an internet gun shop, I inspect the gun before I sign the 4473. If the gun is not what was advertised or is damaged, I'm not going to accept the shipment.

Mine used to do it free.

Then the ATF got on his case at his last FFL renewal because he was unable to show a profit for his gun business.
(He makes his real living as a Veterinarian)

Anywho, he now charges $5 bucks.

I pay $20 for a long gun and $25 for a handgun.

The guys I deal with are great! They send me a copy of their FFL so when I purchase online or out of state I just forward the certificate the party I'm buying from.

Their 91/30s are 130-160, all matching in "very good" condition. At AIM surplus they're 80$, plus 50$ for transfer, that puts me at 130. And I can't see the gun. Plus all of these guys that I've called have not been polite about the idea of a transfer.

I don't get it. They act like I'm a criminal. That guy that told me he'd do one Saiga asked me what I was going to do with it, wanted to know all kinds of stuff, etc. There's one other place I can call but they're closed today.

I'll check gunbroker, thanks for that idea.

I can see paying 50$ for a 4-600$ gun. But paying more than half the price of the gun in transfer fees sucks.

I pay 20 for a transfer although it took me a lot of calling around to find someone who could do it for less than 50. I don't blame them for charging that much because depending on what part of town their business is in they may have a lot more fees and licenses that are required.

Wow all of you are lucky...I could only find one person in my area that would charge me less than $50 and he still wanted $40...

The closest LGS charges $50.00 + tax per gun. I wind up using him because he as regular and reliable hours. Another LGS charges $25, but he is only open 2-3 days per week. Sometimes he is closed for a few weeks at a time to recover from frequent hip / knee / other surgery. I like the guy and want to support him, but it is hard to do so when his hours are so incompatible with mine.

Get your C&R FFL. $30 for 3 years, and all the Mosins and other milsurps your wallet can bear, shipped to your door.

ETA: I pay $25 per transfer here in Houston. Nice retired gentleman who works out of his house. Can't recommend him enough if anyone us looking for an FFL in the Reliant Park area of Houston.
