I've let several slip through my fingers that I wish I still had.
Let a couple of like new 1903 A3 Springfields go, but those were fairly easy to replace several years later. I guess the worst mistake I've made was trading an original paratrooper M1 Carbine in excellent condition for a 1911A1, a can of .45 ACP ammo and a little boot. That one would be hard to replace today.
As far a handguns, I traded in a High Standard Mod. G >380 in like new condition on a S&W Chief's Special which I later sold for $35 (guns were a lot less expensive in the '50s ). While searching for a picture I find they made less than 2000 of these and they are bringing up to $1800 today.
And then, there was that German Luger and a nice 12 ga. Ithaca 37 riot gun.........darn, this is getting depressing, lets hear about yours.
Regards,
hps
