What gun belongs to what caliber the best?

There are a number of guns that just fit with a certain caliber. Almost like they go hand in handSome of them are easy.

.45ACP - Colt 1911

.30-06 - M1 Garand

.556x.45 - M16/AR15

But some are not so easy and are debatable.

.308 - Rem700 or Springfield M14?

9mm - Beretta 92 or Glock 17?



What do you think? Let's start with common calibers. What gun goes hand in hand with what caliber?

Neither; Browning Hi-Power.

Well for me -

.357 magnum = S&W M27 or M66 (depending on the application)
.41 magnum = S&W 57
.44 magnum = S&W 29
10mm = Glock 20 (though I really do love my Delta Elite)
.30-30 = Winchester 94 (though I prefer a Marlin)
.375 H&H = Ruger No. 1 (only because it is affordable and it is not too big to be handy as most bolt actions seem to be)

In my opinion the .30-06 would have to be related to a bolt action rather than the Garand. Which one is up for debate.

.556 is either a really tiny round or a really big one depending on how you look at it.

For the 9mm I'd say the Luger. Heck, it gets called the 9mm Luger half the time.

There's also the Bren Ten/10mm and .45 Colt/Colt SAA. Oh and the .30-30 and the Win 94.

No on the Garand, I think old man Garand wanted a 7mm the army insisted on the 30 cal.

Wow is right....browning Hi Power for the 9mm

.380...Walther PPK/s (early ones...not the late versions)

.32 Auto.....Seecamp

40 S&W....Sig 229

308 should be M14

22 LR should be Ruger 10/22 and the S&W 17 (K22)

.270 should be the Winchester 70

30-30 should be the Winchester 94 OR Marlin 336

.260 Remington should be the Remington 700 Short action.

.22-250 must be the Remington VSF

.44 Magnum has to be the S&W 29

45/70 Should be the 1895 Marlin... It just really made that caliber shine.

I agree, .40 S&W goes with Glock. And when someone says 30-06 to me, I envision a hunting rifle, not a battle rifle. But that's just me. And didn't Garand actually lobby for the .270 and the military opted instead for the 30-06?
