I have been debateing over which pistol I should buy. I decided to make a list of the features the gun must have. I will use it for range and Home Defense only(no CCW here). Okay Heres my list, any guns have these options

1) Full size 9mm
2) stainless steel (no polymer)
3) Durable and reliable
4) Company who makes pistol must stand behind it, Im looking for great customer service.
5) Around $700 max
6) Have a good trigger pull.
7) Looking for combat accuracy.
8) Im a lefty so it must be lefty friendly

Okay so does anyone have any suggestionns????

check the Springfield Loaded, fullsize 1911 with ambi safety. there is one on gunsamerica right now, although you might be able to find one locally.

Springfield laoded is only think i can think of in a actually stainless steel gun ... Lefty friendly too

A beretta would also fit if it didnt have to be totally steel..

Also a ruger p series

A couple of recommendations"

1- S&W 5906TSW. Ambi safties are standard, although the slide release is set up for RH only (I know alot of LH'ers who do just fine with using their trigger finger to manipulate this control).

2- Sig 226 (all stainless model, whatever the designation is). Only caveat here is SigArms is concentrating on LE contracts and when that happens, individual customer service suffers (happens with Glock and HK also). My dad just bought one new for right at $700.

3- Para-Ordnance 14.45 LDA. When a lemon slips through, they'll fix it. Ambi safeties can be fitted (they may actually have a model that comes with ambis, check out the LDA Limited guns). Retail is high, most of the ones I see new are in the 600-700 range.

Probably best customer service, in my experience, has been S&W. Can't really think of anymore, but I'll keep racking my brain and see what I come up with. I solved the problem by learing to shoot right-handed. Took a little work, but came out ok at the end.

1st I thought 92fs inox - if the aluminum frame is acceptable, if not the SA 9mm 1911 w/ ambi safety would be a great choice.

All stainless full size 9mm...that definitely narrows the field:

1. Sig P226ST ($700 and probably the sweetest wundernine on the market)
2. CZ 85B ($500, steel with satin nickel finish; a very nice pistol and highly regarded, along with the 75 series, but you might want to save an extra 2 bills and go for the Sig; worth every penny, imho).
3. CZ 75BD or 75B ($400, not stainless, but still all steel)
4. Baby Eagle 9mm ($700 brushed chrome or polished chrome, $400 black; I love my $400 black Baby Eagle, but no way would I pay $700 for the chrome finishes as my Sig P226ST will blow it away at that price).

Bottom line, if you can, shoot it before you buy it (rent one at a range, call a friend who owns one, go to a shooting club, or something). Buy what YOU shoot best. Have fun! (...but get the Sig... :)...you'll be glad you did...)

While there are some disputes about their customer service, it sounds like a Kahr T9 would be up your alley.

(boy I wish Kahr would use .png images for their guns instead of the .gifs with the green crap)

I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed with a CZ 85. I have an EAA Witness which I absolutely love to death, they're similar design. Too bad CZ doesn't make one in 10mm :neener:

And btw, if you WANTED an EAA Witness CDNN is having a firesale on them, all models from $260 to $300, all steel ones starting at $270 and up. The wonderfinish is the only way to go, not stainless but it's a marine finish.

But I seriously doubt EAA has stellar support.

well for stainless and no poly with most of the features you want I would say a Taurus PT-92 AFS. The price is not that bad and they seem to run pretty well and have some nice features. Too bad they dont make the CZ-75 in stainless..I think there would be one sale here anyway.

I have some first hand experience w/ LH friendly autos :)

IMO, there are several very good available, I think the 'stainless' requirement might be a stretch though, depending...

The Beretta 92 & 92 Vertec models are both standard cap 9mm's, and have good trigger pull. If it's too heavy for you, grab the 92D model hammer spring and swap them out (maybe 2 minutes if you're really, really cautious). These are available in 'inox' - stainless. They're also very left hand friendly.

The Ruger P series, also very prominent controls, standard cap 9mm's, available stainless, good rep.

S&W autos also have prominent controls, although some are not ambidextrous, so watch for it...

USP's & p2000's - Stainless aren't imported anymore, and they're poly, but, they're also LH friendly.

I've heard good things about the CZ's but don't own any myself so I'll defer to others on them.

I hope these suggestions help...

If I had a nickel for everytime I've heard about what a firearms manufacturer is supposed to do....... I'm sure they've announced it, but my experience with new models is: a) until it's in my hand don't rely on press releases or inside information from the importer's whoever or b) new models get released before they've been adequately wrung out resulting in the shooting public being used as beta testers. If the gun makes it out in '05 and if alot of peopl;e buy them, I doubt I'd get one before spring of '06. Lots of companies have had serious problems when switching proven designs from carbon to stainless.
