What guns would you go for in a raffle?

Current Gun Raffle

As stated above list your rules carefuly and stick to them. For our current gun raffle we have:
1. S&W AR-15 (5.56)
2. Beretta Px4 Storm 40 or 45
3. Henry Golden Boy 22LR Lever Action
4. Ruger LC9 9mm
5. Remington 870 12 or 20 guage

A new gun is added for every hundred tickets sold after the original 500 tickets up to 32 guns this is for the Volunteer Fire Department I am on. We poll people that come to our feeds and anytime there are a group of locals together to see what they would like to see on the list the next couple of guns to be added are going to drive some sales I will say that.

Tickets are 10 dollars each.
 
I would buy one for a nice M1A national match. AR10, I like the 460 performance center smith idea also, high quality 1911s are always a good choice as well.
 
Thanks for the replies. I'm a little surprised by the choices of guns. I guess I was expecting some replies with guns that were a little more unusual, exotic, whatever. The suggestions so far seem pretty mainstream.
 
The store that supplies the guns for our raffle has also let us put it in writting that if anyone would like the value of the prize put towards another gun they can do it. So it is what ever we paid for the gun can be placed toward a different gun.
 
Is this going to be in Alabama, as indicated? We aren't Ohio, and gambling is a big issue in AL lately.

I think you have to ask for a "donation" and not be a real "raffle". Ask an attorney in Alabama.

I put this out there so it doesn't get shot down later by do-gooders. I think it's silly, really, but it's real.

Something I would be interested in would be a S&W or Colt .22 LR AR style rifle. I think that would appeal to a lot. Shotguns are good bets, usually. Benelli and Beretta are attention catching names.

You need to pick guns that will appeal to your target base. If in a rural area, hunting guns will sell more tickets. Target shooters want target type guns. City folks may like self defense stuff more.
 
How about a good 50 caliber black powder in-line muzzle loader. This way you can cut out the middle man. No FFL, No transfers needed, No back ground checks.
Just my thoughts on this. For that price you could have one rifle and a matching caliber revolver.

Another plus is if the winner happens to live out of town or state. The gun can be mailed to his or her front door no questions asked.

There is no point in me thinking about what guns I might go after. The money is gone and I will never see anything for it. I never win anything. The Good Lord hates me. I don't see how that could be as every time I go to a raffle or a dinner I pray like mad for me to win something.

My preferences in no particular order:

1. M1 Garand or Carbine
2. AR-15/10
3. Ruger Vaquero
4. A Glock...
5. AK-47/74
5. I know it sounds goofy but, a nice SKS
6. M1903a3
7. 1911
8. A nice .22 plinking/target pistol (Mk.II,Buckmark)
9. A nice, old muzzleloader (Enfield or somethin')

the suggestions are mainstream because for a raffle you want to have a prize that would appeal to the greatest number of eyeballs that come across your flyer or email...marketing 101 stuff...
 
I am in the volunteer fire dept here in my home town also. We do a fund raiser 2 times a year and have outstanding results with our gun raffles. In fact we are known for our gun raffles. We always have at least 30 guns for a one night gathering at the fire house. We cook and sell plate lunches and play bingo for prizes and sell raffle tickets. We always get a few shotguns(870's and such), some leveraction(Henry 22's), some bolt action rimfires, AR's, pistols(smith&wesson,ruger) and we always have some real nice centerfire rifles such as a Browning, Winchester and Thompson Center. We have even had some crossbows.

We even have 2 guns that are designated for the kids. No purchase necessary. Every kid that comes gets a ticket and at the end of the night when everyone is getting excited we call out one boys ticket number and one girls ticket number. Each one gets a little 22 such as a cricket. In october we gave away 2 little shotguns. One was camo and the other was black.

The one we had in October of 2011 we broke 80k in one night counting everything. The people here really support the fire dept.

Pairs of things are ticket sellers. A pair of 870s (12 & 20), a Ruger Redhawk and Blackhawk, a pair of 22 rifles that could be given to grandkids, etc. Except for the resale value, I have no use for a black rifle or a Garand. I would buy tickets for nice common weapons that I could gift...or at least convince my wife that was the plan. ;)
 
Just about anything that isn't some cheap Ruger, Mossberg, Maverick, Remington, basic type of gun. A nice Browning or Beretta shotgun, a Smith revolver, or one of the name brand 1911's or even a decent polymer "package" with extra mags, etc......
 
Okay, let's change this a bit. Don't think about what audience this is playing to, or who might be buying, or how diverse a group it may be. Just think about you and only you.

If there was a raffle you were going to participate in, what would you love to have the chance of winning? Don't think about anyone else, just think about you. A 1970's vintage Colt .38 Super? A Daniels Defense M4? A pre-'64 Winchester model 70?

What would get you to buy handfuls of tickets?
