What handgun if you were homeless?

Since we are theorizing, I would sell my other handguns, shed a "tear" or two.... Buy a lottery ticket and keep my Walther P22. I'd carry 22 shot shells, hollow points, and some high velocity ammo. Small, accurate, concealable, and versatile. Ammo would be cheap and you can fire with little noise when hunting for food. Larger calibers could call more attention to yourself.

Homeless in the city...I'd move out to the rural area and start scouting for food. Would need a .22 short for that. Quiet and can get alot of game with it. Also ammo is light and can carry lots in my pocket.

But seriously, if I had to stay in the city, I'd pawn the gun, get the cash.

Now it depends on what you mean be 'homeless'.

Lost house but have family to fall back on? Then I'd pack what I pack now (Glock 26/27 and J .38.)

If 'homeless' you mean living in a cardboard box, then my old Charter Arms stainless .38 Undercover. Just 5 shots and that's it. Uncle Mikes IWB and it would be with me all the time along with a folding knife.

I sure hope it never comes to that though!

Maybe there's more than one version of homeless?

I lived what I would call semi-nomadic for about 5 or 6 years in Northern Az about 25 years ago. I spent an average of 10 months/yr camping, under the stars, on my motorcycle, and truck camping, and had a tipi I lived in for a couple years off and on. I was mostly camping on National Forest land, and moved around a lot. Never had a problem with the Forest Service. I guess the time I had my tipi on my own land I wasn't exactly homeless. Rabbits were in season 12 months of the year, and I loved hunting them. I worked part time, roamed a lot, shot a lot, and had a blast. I don't want to do it again at this point, but could if I had to. I certainly wouldnt be anywhere near a city.

Back on topic, I mostly carried a 4" Smith 29, with some flirtations with a couple Colt SAA's, a Colt 1911 or two, and a few Rugers. Always had various guns in my rig, pistols and rifles. So far as I know, there isnt any law against having a gun anywhere I've been, so no reason to be concerned about the law. I had an address, a friend let me use his for my paperwork that required a physical address, and I had a PO box for my mail, much like many retired people do when they RV for their retirement. I think I could comfortably do the RV thing, but I reckon that isnt really homeless, just a home thats not fixed in one spot.

Geez, who resurrected this thing? :D

I still like what I said a couple of years ago - if I have a gun, it'll be small and concealable. I like the .22 even more now than I did then, but I have a soft spot for the .38 ... and a Lee Loader. :D .22 is quiet, especially if it's a revolver with shorts. Get me some dinner that way.

We have lots of homeless around here. It doesn't get too cold, most of the time, see. I run into them when I'm walking the dog, or hiking, from time to time. Just looks like they're camping, really. Just, camping for a long, long time. I suspect that I would have me a .22 in that situation.

But I still would need to have a guitar, and maybe a harmonica. Especially if I was stuck in a stupid city, I could make a bit of cash that way.

I was homeless for almost a year and a half in Louisville, KY and kept a Taurus .357 snubbie, and a small .25 pocket gun (lorcin I think it was). Permit was a non issue as KY is an open carry state.

I would rather be homeless in the woods. I would probably have a rifle, or a pistol that I could potentially hunt with.
