I will get tired of this sooner or later, but I was just wondering if the recent events have prompted anyone to:

1. Become aware of RKBA and do something;
2. Actually do something rather than rant about laws or potential laws;
3. E-mail, write or call their representative(s);
4. Send more money to the RKBA organization of their liking;
5. Just wring their hands more.

I just re-upped with the NRA and sent a few e-mails although with the auto-responses from the e-mails, I wonder about their effectiveness.

Anyway, what have you done lately?

I convert the local anti's (many around me) as I think this is the best way to change to make a long term change. I also support the NRA and do the letter writing/phone call thing when appropriate.

Taking new people, especially women, is very important to the growth of our sport and protection of our rights. When taking a new person to the range do not start into the whole politics battle because whoever you take if they are really and anti will probably think you are a crazy gun nut. Give it a couple of trips before really pounding on the rights thing.

Like Shooting4life, I do what I can to inform my anti friends of the facts about guns, the law, and our rights. I do not belong to any organizations, nor do I send money I do not have to them. I shoot as often as I can, and write to my elected officials regularly to remind them that people are the problem, not guns. I offer to take non-shooters to the range to let experience help erase some of their ignorance and fear.

So far:

Gave out NRA memberships to family members as gifts.

Sent several e-mails.

Have tried to be an ambassador for the shooting sports among those who don't know much about guns and the second amendment.

I actively work to convert undecided and the mildly anti to understand that guns are not a cause of anything. I work towards getting them to go shooting and supply the firearms and ammunition.

Each one I introduce to shooting is another that won't be as likely to want to restrict RKBA and who will hopefully carry the word to others.

I also write letters and make phone calls to politicians that both oppose RKBA and, as importantly, support RKBA.

Yeah, I need to start inviting co-workers to shoot with me.

That seems to be an easy way to educate. Not to be sexist, but most guys just love loud and powerful things. (Hope I did not offend any of the womenfolk.)

Anyway, I guess I need to do some inviting.

1) Bought some hand guns
2) My wife and I took he class and sent off for CWP's
3) Currently pushing H3003 which is an open carry bill in SC. Have contacted several papers across the state to promote it and have a few radio stations Ill be on to do some interviews.
4) Ive written my legislators on several topics
5) Joined several forums and have also read several articles and books on the subject in an effort to be an informed and armed citizen.
5) Joined Grass Roots Gun Rights of South Carolina

I help people see what guns really are, i find a lot of people in the country hunt but couldn't care less if their guns were taken. Planning on getting a NRA life membership, mine jsut expired:(

(BTW, PremuimSauces changed his name, might want to modify your sig:neener::Dlol)

Sorry to hear of your demise.

They care, but until it directly affects them, they do little. At that point, it may be too late.

I'm promoting boat safety awareness and boat checkups in order to minimize tragic boating accidents.

A Big LOL to that :)

I've taken a few people to the range, and plan to keep doing it. There's nothing like hands-on experience to change a mind.

I'm in the process of converting yet another person to RKBA : ]

Thats..... 5 so far :3

If they convert even one or 2....

I'm going to keep working though

I just bought a lifetime membership with the NRA. I'm very happy about that!

Also, later this week, I have plans to introduce TWO single, fine, young ladies to the shooting sports. One of the girls has told me that she'd like to own a gun for protection in her home and she has never even shot a gun before. Great!
Sometimes, I give so much of myself, if only to further our rights :D

Oh yeah... and I have found out that a former co-worker really wants to shoot a gun, but has never done it before. He is against CCW and we disagree on several other rights-issues. I will ask if he has any other friends who have little/no knowledge of firearms, who'd like to learn. I kinda think that's one of the best ways to support our side - spreading the knowledge and the experience.
