    Hi...
    Range day on Sunday.
Shot my 7mm Mag at 100 yds...8-9" high. Leupold 3x9 doesn't want to make sight adjustments. Scope hadn't varied a 1/4" in 20 years until now. Hope I don't have to send it in for repair. Going to try it again one day this week and see if I can get it squared away.
Son tested some handloads with his Tikka .308 and Rem 700 in.270. He seems very happy with the loads he tested.

We moved over to the handgun range and shot a few revolvers. Shot all three of my .44Spl revolvers, one of my .41Mags and one of my .357s. Also shot two of my son's .357s.
We did some more test shooting with my .375SuperMag. A friend showed up and we spent about half an hour discussing Dan Wesson revolvers and a custom revolver he is having somebody build. I let him shoot my SuperMag and he was really impressed with it. Said he had never seen one in that caliber, let alone shoot one.

Finally changed out the recoil spring and striker spring in my FN 1906 that was made in 1912 or 1913. The striker spring and recoil spring had been loosing two or three coils about every third trip for several years now and had gotten to the point I'd have a light strike every few magazines. Took it to the range to see if I still got any light strikes but it is much better now. Really like this tiny jewel.

    Hi...
    Rezeroed my 7mmMag this morning.
Son shot his .308 Tikka...just verifying zero for deer season.
Moved over to the handgun range...shot most of my big bore revolvers. Little disappointed with my shooting at first but the groups tightened up nicely once I got used to the cold and high winds.

Have a couple hundred cases to separate tomorrow and get ready to tumble.

Nothing at all. Mother Nature is being rather uncooperative. I need to sight in one of my ARs after a scope change but the wind has just been too high and we just finished three days of cold, rainy weather to boot. Now the wind is supposed to return. There is some hope for next Wednesday---if the weather guessers are right.

Just a quickie yesterday; sighted-in the irons on my new IDF Clone AR, and the new reflex sight on my Hi-Point 995. Fast fun!

Shot the Friday night pistol match with my Commander (LW). I'm too old to be fast, but all the hits were good.

Re-zeroed the irons on the increasingly-Swiss 556/551. Now also has a CompM4 installed, so more zeroing needed now!
PSS, 308, windy range killing me. Wind and wet means I can't get on steel past 500 lately. It's being shoved around, and the muddy berms won't show splash.
M&P 9 CORE Jpoint for the monthly IDPA match. Shot well for me, but we have an annoying good set of shooters at the club, so I am pretty mediocre in the list. I try not to look at scores, but I have to post them to the website so I sorta have to :(

Sorry you're laid up walkalong. Get better soon.

I fired 2 rounds from my m11 savage in 223, fed premium 60 gr partitions first shot missed doe moving toward me it stopped the 2 deer in their tracks. The next shot scored a quartering hit through shoulder with an exit out off side ribcage. Recovered the doe in a depression hidden by a downed tree.

A friend came in from the UK for a wedding.
Staying at his extended family's place, he watched soccer nonstop for a few days.
When we went to visit, he told me this and I asked if he might be interested in a range day.

    he readily accepted the invite.
I loaded 9 pistols and 4 rifles into the car and a couple ammo cans.
We did a mini safety brief (4 safety rules), handgun manipulation ( he kept easing the mag into the well after I instructed to be rude to the mag) " an inch in after an index purchase of the mag, open palmed, brisk insertion". Hand over slide charging when he wanted to slingshot it, sight alignment and sight picture, pressing through the trigger and holding it till another sight picture comes into view then going to the trigger reset point.
He was somewhat surprised at all those instructions but actually shot quite well at 7 yards.

We, well, He, shot about 4 hours.
    4 Glocks (17,32,23,19), a Kahr, P9 Covert, a Colt 1991A1, a Shield in 9mm, a Redhawk in .44 mag, A S&W66 with .38's all put a smile on his face, well excepting the .44.

We moved back to about 20 and ran the rifles
We, He transitioned to a Chinese AK, a couple AR's and a PA10.

All in all, a great afternoon. He talked about this for a couple days and asked if we could do it again when he returned.

I told him absolutely but only if I could shoot too. Ha. I ran about 8 or 10 rounds to his 200 to 300.

Just a cool day and made me exceptionally happy to take him.

Only thing that I shot was my 42 Glock. I was checking trail cams and ran into a couple of armadillos. Had one run and it took me three shots but I got the other one with one.

A friend's new S&W Bodyguard revolver. I hate the trigger--am lucky to hit anything in the Milky Way Galaxy.

My Walther P99 AS, Sig P6 (I struggled and changed the original main spring), and CZ PCR, plus my AMD-65 (by TGI) and Maadi "AK".

I went to the range today. What a gorgeous day to be out.
I have 3 old rifles I wanted to take the time to tweak in the irons.
A friend gifted me a National Ordnance 1903A3. Yes, I've read up on it. It is truly a piece of crap BUT I like it.
This guy won it in a poker game over 40 years ago, lost his arm in a car accident and it sat in his closet for 40 years.
It was filthy. I cleaned it up, got a wooden handguard to replace the broken plastic one it had. Bought a Stacking swivel and clamp. The end cap was on backwards and put on with a wood screw.
The rear sight was a POS so I got another one. So, parts cost me less than a hundred.
Early on, I had the head space checked just to see if it was safe to shoot and was told it's good to go.

The A3 and Ishapore 2A1, I shot at 25 yards just to see what they would group.
    The 03A3 at 25.

The Spanish FR8 was to be sighted in at 30 (probly 30 meters) using the 200 yard aperture.
Due to the oblong or off center adjustment of the front sight, It took a few turn to make 25 acceptable.
    49342221132_1891956658.jpg 2020-01-06_06-09-52 by poofy27, on Flickr

The Ishapore 2A1 was more of a task. I took off the front barrel (shroud / handguard retainer?) / bayo mount lug and hammered the front sight to get a reasonable consistant group. It took 13 shots.

I took a buddys 30.06 pump and Ithaca shotgun to function test them after cleaning them up. They worked ok but I didn't adjust anything.

Then over to the other rifle range to run my Savage 111fns .300 Win Mag at 300yds
In my lifetime of hunting, the longest shot I've made on almost 50 deer was 95 paces with a shotgun.
The Leupold VX5Hd 3X15 was sighted at 200. At 3/4" per click, I ran it up 10 clicks for 7 inches that I remembered it was low last session..
It hit about 3 inches high so backed it off 4 clicks and was good..
I've almost settled on 180 gr accubonds over 70 gr of IMR 4350 but am still not satisfied.
The Savage has a composite stock. It was a gun bash win.
I'll tweak the load a bit.
It doesn't help that I have a vision issue after stabbing myself in the eye with the ass end of a sawzall blade 10 years ago.

Anyway, It was a great 4 hour session. I shot 6 rifles, made some close range adjustments.
Next up, my $26 1893 Spanish 7mm mauser needs a mount for a scout scope.

On new year's day I shot my usual practice with lcp.
On January 4th I dropped my 1911 Defender off at my lgs for possible trade, and fired two mags through a XDS.45.
Since I was without my Defender, I pulled my SP101 out of the safe for about 30rds of practice on Saturday afternoon January 5th. I carried the sp101 to church on Sunday January 6th.
I enjoyed shooting it so much on Saturday that I went back out Sunday afternoon and finished off the box of reloads.
I can definitely see myself carrying the sp101 more often. The new holster made all the difference.

Went out new years day with the boys and some friends. We shot ruger 10/22, S&W Victory, Glock 19 and CMMG 9mm AR pistol all at steel. Then moved to 100 yards and shot AR15s and a Savage Scout. All in all a very good day of shooting.

Took out the Glock and the browning buckmark the other day for some cold weather practice. Enjoying the snow free winter while it lasts, because the cold is coming...

Had the 444 Marlin out today. Windy nasty day so I shot the top curls off the snow drifts about 120 yds. from the house. A little avalanche control for the critters by cattails.
