I was just thinking about my Bersa 380, and realized that I shoot ball reloads 95% of the time.

One day, I thought: "I should get some HP factory defense ammo, confirm it feeds reliably, and keep it on hand."

So I bought some Remington Golden Saber HP. It didn't feed reliably. As you guys know, this stuff is much too expensive to buy it willy-nilly.

So I'm hoping fellow Bersa 380 owners can tell me what works and save me a few bucks. Of course I'll still confirm it on my (older) Bersa Model 83, but it'd be nice to have a recommended starting point.

Thanks!

My daughter's Bersa likes the Hornady Critical Defense Ammo. Feeds happily. It also like the Federal HST.:)

My wife's Bersa has fed every hollowpoint we've given it, which includes Hydrashocks, WWB JHPs, and Hornady Critical Defense.

Each of my daughters have the 380 Thunder. No problems with HP's or FP or RN bullets. Each gun is different and to be confident it feeds fine, I would try a box before reliance on that brand and bullet type.

Mine does not care for gold dots for some reason. It cycles Hornady CD, Winchester Ranger T, Corbon DPX just fine.

I have since polished the feed ramp, so I'd bet it would eat the Gold Dots just fine now.

I just carry ball ammo in my .380 these days....

I've only tried two HP flavors in mine. The first is the one I've shot a couple hundred of, and that is the Remington-UMC 88-grain JHP rounds. The second, I only had a handful of, left over from my law enforcement days, which ended in the early nineties. Those were Winchester Silvertips, probably 85 grains. They were, of course, 20 years old. Both performed flawlessly. I carried the UMC in my Bersa for more than a year, until I took the gun out of "front-line" service and replaced it with a PF-9.
