So, I want to hear from you guys what you think my responsibility is in a situation.

I live in Kansas where campus carry is legal on all public colleges unless they have "adequate security" , but they have a temporary exemptions for the most part, to have the time to get those measures in effect. Many community colleges are simply dropping the exemptions and allowing carry because they don't have the money for the security measures required. I'm at better off university who's holding out on the exemptions just as long as they can. Here's the deal, they've got all the buildings on campus posted, as per the law for the exemption, except for one. This one building is unposted on every single door thats student accessible, but even so in Kansas only the door you walk through has to be unposted for you to enter with a concealed firearm.

I personally carry for protection and farm work, having come from a rougher community college where violent and non-violent crime was prevalent I feel very safe here by comparison and feel no need to carry my firearm in to said building. I'm sure they meant to have that building posted and some how overlooked it, as a responsible citizen should I report it so they can post it like the rest of campus? Or do I leave it alone so any other carriers who feel the need can carry? My concern is that someone might legally carry in to the building as it is not posted and someone freak out and call the police since the rest of campus is posted (even the information booths have postings, they have street signs of the postings, etc) and it cause an incident for the conceal and carry community. What do you all think on this?

As a faculty member at one of those two major universities, I can assure you it was likely not just overlooked. But, all the same, if you carry and are discovered, you may be legally right, but you will still have a major hassle to face. Not worth it, unless you want to make a public point.

I'm also in Kansas and I understand the issue you are facing. I suspect I know what school you're talking about too.

You have no responsibility to inform a business regarding postings that don't comply with the regulations issued by the Kansas Attorney General. We are responsible for complying with the laws and regs that govern our carrying -- they can do the same when it comes to posting. They've got plenty of attorneys to advise them of the rules.

Be careful, however, about advice to carry past the signs. In many situations I don't mind carrying past a posted sign, considering the lack of penalty in Kansas for that. You, however, while not subject to criminal penalty, may be subject to university discipline if found in violation. Word to the wise -- check it out.

. . . I'm sure they meant to have that building posted and some how overlooked it, as a responsible citizen should I report it so they can post it like the rest of campus? . . .

I hope the OP is just trying to start a conversation, as advising ANY nominally anti-gun organization that their anti-gun signage doesn't comply with the law is borderline insane - one simply does NOT aid one's opponents in their attempt to oppress, regulate, or restrict one's self.

And of course, concealed means concealed. I've always tried to obey laws, but I've always regarded mere rules that don't have the force of law behind them as little more than incentives to be discrete. If KS law doesn't apply in the unposted building, I see nothing wrong ethically or morally with lawful carrying.

Discretely.

I agree with slumlord, No one should ever know so who cares. If something violent happens, no one will fault you for carrying.

You have zero responsibility to "report" they didn't post a building. It is just their own choice to post it or not. Unless you think allowing CCW holders to carry in that building is unsafe, in which case you should stop carrying as well.

I'm just glad I like in a state that doesn't have these silly signs in the first place.
